Pentagon's Surveilance System in Romania

Back to Index | Back to News Archive

Today, the Romanian CNSAS (Consiliul National de Studiere al Arhivelor Securitatii - National Council for the Study of the Security's Archives) aquisitioned the same digital military Surveilance system as the one used to protect the largest building on Earth, the Pentagon's building in Washington DC.
Such a measure was taken due to the very sensitive status of the documents held and protected by the CNSAS, documents which keep a very detailed record on every Romanian citizen that was ever born or lived in or outside Romania during the communist years, between 1945 and 1989. These files have very sensitive information about everybody, therefore certain people like politicians for example would do anything in order to get their opponents' files and publish them, while getting a hold on their own files in order to destroy them.
Hopefully, from now on, the CNSAS with the help of this Surveilance system and also under Army soldiers military armed guard, those Archives will only be opened by law members and under the Constitutional rights.
