Here are some pics of my car, an NHRA "Stocker", and a couple of "Super Stockers" (one currently owned, and one previously owned by a local racer friend of mine). I also included a picture of my "Burb", hey you need some purdy wheels to get ya to the races too eh (hehehe). I have added a little description under each pic, and of course there is some good ol' Blues playin' in the background to tickle your ears....enjoy !!!!

This is my '76 Chevrolet Nova "Stocker" in action. As per NHRA rules, the car has to utilize many "stock" components or features. The rules state that we must use stock pistons, compression ratio, cylinder heads (valve size, port volumes, proper casting # for that particular year of engine, NOT ported of course, and unaltered), intake manifold (proper casting #), carburetor, and stock lift on the camshaft (lotsa duration though). We are allowed to use headers, aftermarket torque convertors, any gear ratio (differential must remain corporate), and are limited to a maximum 9" x 30" racing slick on the rear. I am utterly amazed at the performance levels achieved by NHRA "Stockers", how they run as quick, and fast as they do under the stringent guidelines of the NHRA. The entire "Stock" class is based on factory horsepower to weight ratios. The quickest "Stockers" run the 1/4 mile in the low 10 second range at over 130 mph !!! Are you thinking of a great way to get your business name known ? I am always open to sponsorship offers, for more information please E-mail me.

OOOEEE BABYYY !!!!!

Heatin' up the ol' slicks just prior to making a run.

SOME DETAILS ABOUT THE CAR:

This car is a 1976 Chevrolet Nova SS (built 06/76), powered by a 350" small block Chev engine. The engine is equipped with TRW forged pistons (8.5:1 compression ratio - I don't have a choice on the CR because that's how they came in '76 on this particular engine). The camshaft utilizes the stock lift for that engine (.390" Intake, .410" Exhaust), although it does not have much lift, these "Stocker" cams are ground with lots, lots, and more lotsa duration, it's like the valve is open almost forever (they sound real cool and idle real rough/choppy like a top fueler...hehehe). The rotating assembly is balanced and blueprinted and has to use the stock crankshaft and connecting rods. The induction has to remain stock, I have to use the cast iron intake manifold (proper casting #) and Quadrajet carbueretor, as well the cylinder heads are stock cast iron (proper casting #), and as per NHRA rules are not ported. I use a Turbo 350 transmission equipped with a manual valve body, and use an 8" torque convertor (approx 4600 rpm stall). The differential is a GM 12 Bolt, equipped with a spool and aftermarket axles, and uses 5.13:1 gears. Every "Stock Eliminator" class has an "index" (which is a minimum time it must run in the quarter - the further a car is under the index the better). To date, the best the car has run has been about -.800 seconds under the index in the K/SA class (which equates to 12.38 @ 107 mph - that run was based on an altitude corrected 13.18 index at Saskatoon (1600 ft above sea level), the sea level index for K/SA is 12.95 seconds, and my minimum weight in "K" is 3680 Lbs). The car will also run J/SA which has a sea level index of 12.75 seconds, and in "J" trim has run a best of 12.28 in Saskatoon (sea level index altitude corrects to 12.98 at that altitude, which was approx -.700 seconds under the index, my minimum weight in "J" is 3545 Lbs). If you have any questions regarding the car, or racing, don't hesitate to E-mail me. I owe an absolute TON of thanks to many friends and fellas who have helped make this hobby VERY enjoyable and possible for me - my most sincere thanks go out to (in no particular order) Barry Pollard (Hap), Abe Loewen (AAAH-Beee...the Queen City Performance guy), Ed Bugg (Mr. Ed), cousin John Reitmeier (J.R. the Metal Dynamics guy), Steve Randall (ya weenie..hehehe), Joe Rozdeba (the Shock Treatment "Guy"), Bill Cawsey, Jim Rey, Darwyn (Big "D") Solvason, Richard Shewfelt (Rooster), Kevin Helms, Jim Cimarolli, ...and the list goes on and on.....many thanks for the wisdom, knowldege, and help....VERY much appreciated!!!!!

This Pic was taken at an NHRA Division Race in Douglas, Wyoming. Douglas is probably the coolest race place I've been to. The track is right in the middle of town, ALL the folks there treat you very very well, and make you feel very welcome. Their special treatment of racers makes it very easy to return each year. Douglas is very special to me for another reason, because I won my very first NHRA Division Race there back in 1993, it was ALOT of fun!!

This pic was taken up in Saskatoon Saskatchewan in September 1997, at their big payout Stock/Super Stock combo race. It's always kinda fun having their combo race in September, because the air is usually a little cooler, and the cars run a little quicker. Quicker and faster is always more fun.

This is my trusty ol' 1985 "Burb" all ready to take me to another race. The 3/4 ton "Burb" is powered by a 454 big block Chev, and is equipped with a Comp Cams camshaft, Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, headers, 3" exhaust, Turbo 400 transmission, Weld wheels, and has 3:73 gears in the diffy (used to have 4:10). It is an awesome tow vehicle (an' it's kinda purdy too), it has plenty of power to pull my car anywhere I want to go (yup even up in the high altitude of Denver).

This is my Super Stock buddy Abe Loewen's newest ride, it is a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am. This vehicle is powered by a 304 cubic inch small block Chev engine, and runs the quarter mile in the low-mid 9 second range. This vehicle won the NHRA CSK Nationals early in the 1999 season, at only its second race.....WOW! This vehicle has also won several elimination rounds in the 1999 season. Abe has become one of the forces in the Super Stock class, he always has an excellent race car, and is a fantastic driver. We always have a ball when we go racing together, we help each other out, and it's always kinda fun to talk racing.

Here is another pic of Abe Loewen's Pontiac Grand Am, it sure is a beauty....it runs as good as it looks. You've got to see this baby under the sun, it's real PURDY, kinda like a great big piece of good ol' eye candy.

This is a 1996 Oldsmobile Achieva owned by Abe Loewen, powered by a 303 cubic inch small block Chevrolet engine. As you can see, the vehicle has been converted to rear wheel drive, and the chassis has been specially modified for Drag Race usage. This one is a real beauty, and is a true crowd pleaser. This vehicle has held several NHRA national records, has several "Class" wins, has won several NHRA Division Races, has taken the Super Stock crown at the NHRA Mile High Nationals (Denver) two years in a row (1996, 1997), was runner up at that race in 1998, won the Northstar Nationals (Brainerd, Minnesota) in 1998, won the Winston Finals (Pomona, California) in 1998, and finished #3 overall in the NHRA drag racing world in 1998 - congrats Abe!!! This vehicle will run in the low 9/high 8 second range at a good sea level track....at nearly 150 MPH !!!!! This vehicle was sold to a fella in Kentucky in January 2000, who plans to run the car in the SS/CM class.

This vehicle is a 1967 Chevy II (Nova). This vehicle was formerly owned by Abe Loewen, the same fella who owns the Oldsmobile just above this pic. This car was powered by a 340 cubic inch small block Chevrolet engine, and would turn the quarter in the low to mid 9 second range at over 140 MPH. It's start line antics proved to be a real crowd pleaser. It is very exciting to watch these "Super Stockers" leave the start line with the wheels up. This vehicle held many NHRA National records, had several "Class" wins, and won the "Super Stock" title at the 1989 NHRA Winternationals in Pomona, California. This vehicle was sold back in 1990, and is currently in Finland.
