Leoni Hikes For Cancer Awareness

Santa Monica, Calif. (AP) - "Jurassic Park" actress Tea Leoni hopes to increase breast cancer awareness with her participation in the sixth annual Take-A-Hike.

"She really is very committed at this. Her grandmother had breast cancer," said Take-A-Hike spokeswoman Brenda Himelfarb. "This is the fourth year that Tea has been involved."

The event, which benefits several breast cancer research organizations, involved taking partipants for hikes in the Santa Monica Mountains.

Leoni, original "Shaft" star Richard Roundtree and excervise guru Kathy Smith were among the celebrities who led participants on the trails Saturday.

The event coincided with breast cancer awareness month.

Lawless Spills X-Files Secrets

Xena: Warrior Princess star Lucy Lawless, who appears in the two-part season premiere of The X-Files, revealed a few tidbits about her top-secret role to free-lance genre columnist Ian Spelling. The X-Files kicks off its ninth season on Nov. 4 with the episode "Nothing Important Happened Today."

"My character, Shannon McMahon, re-enters [Agent John] Doggett's life," Lawless told Spelling by telephone from her home in Auckland, New Zealand. "They used to be in the military togetherin my backstory, they fought in Beirutand now she's causing a great deal of trouble. You don't know if she's good, and you don't know if she's bad. She seems to be both things at once."

Lawless added that McMahon bears tidings for Scully's baby. "And I spent half my time naked," she said. "Why not, if it looks good onscreen? Of course, you don't see anything, except my well-endowed body double. Let's just say the character's a bit of a water baby, a water babe. She's a nymph."

But Lawless declined to say more. "I feel like [X-Files creator] Chris Carter will come after me, and I'll end up with bloody cement boots on my feet at the bottom of the ocean if I tell you too much."

The IMDB has two new movies listed for David Duchovny. They are How to Survive a Hotel Room Fire (2002) and Run, Ronnie, Run (2002)
Run, Ronnie, Run has something to do with the HBO show "Mr. Show." I've heard it's fnny but I've never watched it. No, thats a lie, I watched it once at like 4 am when I couldn't sleep and there was nothing else to do. It's listed as 'Completed.' How to Survive a Hotel Room Fire is listed as in Pre-Production and that it will start in November (next month some time). David plays a character named Gus. The main character is played by Julia Roberts and it looks like it might be a romantic comedy.

Darkhorizons reports that the David Duchovny movie, "How to Survive a Hotel Room Fire" has been renamed as The Art of Negotiating a Turn.

Movie Reviews: Zoolander Few recent films have received such a diverse reaction from critics than Ben Stiller's Zoolander. "What the world needs right now is something so moronic you just have to laugh," writes New York Daily News critic Jami Bernard in the opening of her review. Claudia Puig in USA Today writes similarly: "Something this gleefully goofy and consistently funny would be welcome in any environment, but it's a particularly gratifying antidote to these somber times." On the other hand, Geoff Pevere in the Toronto Star says that the movie is much like the male fashion models that it seeks to parody: "dull, witless and harmlessly self-regarding." And Tom Maurstad in the Dallas Morning News remarks that "Zoolander's superficial satire is more smarmy than charming." But many critics suggest that the film isn't worth the bother of thrashing out its faults. In the words of the New York Post's Jonathan Foreman, it's "fluffy, inconsistent, but enjoyable." (Most analysts are predicting that it will eas ily beat every other film at the box office this weekend.)
(Note from Rachael: Please see this movie. Remember, David Duchovny has a cameo in it. You've probably seen him in the trailors)

At Darkhorizons.com there is a positive review of Zoolander.

4-D is Fifth

Who shot Doggett? Who killed Reyes? Who's even alive? The answers may be backwards, but are found in "4-D," the fifth episode of the season. Tony Wharmby directs the script by Steven Maeda. It is tentatively scheduled to air in December.

Before that episode airs, Monica Reyes takes lead of the investigation in "Hellbound," written by David Amann and directed by Kim Manners. It will tentatively air on December 2nd. Episode number three is "Dmonicus," written and directed by Frank Spotnitz. The title is the Latin word for "Satan." It is scheduled to air on November 18th, but all dates are tentative.

Don't forget that the season premieres with a two-parter, both jointly written by Chris Carter & Frank Spotnitz. The first show, entitled "Nothing Important It will also feature the debut of the characters played by Cary Elwes and Lucy Lawless. Its conclusion, "Nothing Important Happened Today II," is directed by Tony Wharmby and will air on November 11th.

Gillian Anderson won a "Battle of the Network Stars" on Zap2it.com! She won by a landslide! To see all the results go here.
