Jean St. Leger shows in the list of Norman knights at the 1st Crusade who accompanied Robert, duke of Normandy, in 1096. It is possible that Jean founded a family of St. Legers found in Pays de Caux in ancient times. The Christian name of Jean is very prominent in that family. There was a Jean St. Leger with the King Philip Augustus in Palestine in 1191. A Jean St. Leger was also a Benedictine and Abbot of St. Wandrille in the 14th century. Yet another Jean St. Leger served with Henry of Navarre. [THELMA.GED]
