Lot Conant seems to have lived at Marblehead as early as 1657; was selectman in 1662; had one cow’s commonage in 1667, and on May 25, 1674, is recorded as one of the 114 householders. On Nov 20, 1666 his father gave him the homestead at Beverly with 32 acres adjoining and 72 acres in other parts of the town (Essex deeds, vol 3, p.28). On July 4, 1667 he was one of those dismissed from the first Church of Salem to form a church at Bass River, or Beverly. His will was witnessed by Roger and Exercise Conant on 26 Sept, 1674. Attest: Hilliard Veren, clerk. [RWHITNEY.GED]
