Another shop which is not actually a quilt shop but is worth a visit
selling Japanese items including recycled clothing they do have some
fabric which can be used for quilts.
It is top quality and is in the
High Street do ask for as it is an upstairs shop and is
easily missed.

I went to the National Symposium in January this year and there was a shop from Christchurch which is very good that is called Cashmere Quiltworks Ltd. Someone did say that if you are from out of town and can't quite get there during those hours they may open especially for you however am unsure if this is correct. The owners are Sue Spigel and Brenda Visser. Both are well known NZ Quilters.

We found a great little quilt shop in the
Arts Centre in Christchurch which had yummy fat quarters in a wide range of
NZ fabrics,( and by the metre.) The centre is near the Tram route and on
the edge of the Cathedral Square. It is very "male" friendly as it has many
other little shops, and a "to die for" Fudge shop and a great Woodcraft Gallery
(2)The Christchurch Tramway stops outside The Arts Centre. This little shop is situated in the old university buildings where there are many craft shops and on Saturday and Sunday there is also a great craft market. It stocks a great range of fabrics and patterns & a good range of New Zealand patchwork fabric. There is a fantastic fudge shop & a great Woodcraft Gallery & lovely little coffee shop in the Arts Centre. Arts Centre address is www.artscentre.org.nz
