Ibanez has not released much for 1999 yet, however, we know of a couple of models that will be discontinued. These include the GTR70 Bass and rumors are that the Talman line will be trimmed significantly.

Most of our requests come for seven strings. Ibanez found continued success with these s in 1998. Added to this lineup was the 7 string jazz box. The RG sevens strings, 7620 and 7621 will not be available until April of 99. These are coming out with a new color Vampire Kiss, which should be great. Most of the other s including the JEM series will not be out until the summer.

The biggest news this year was Paul Stanley leaving Ibanez to endorse Washburn. The Iceman PS10 is no longer to be made..if you have one..it will be a classic! They are already in high demand only a year after production stopped.

We predict the Blazer will be very big in 1999. The review is here This combines classic styling with modern features: One of the most desirable characteristics of a vintage or used guitar, besides its sound, is the way that it feels in your hands. Like a leather jacket or a pair of blue jeans, a guitar feels better when it's broken in. There's something about the way that a well-played guitar fits in your hands that actually makes you play better. When it comes to playing comfort, there's no way a new guitar can even compare-until now, that is. Ibanez's new Blazer series electric solidbody guitars, the BL1025 features a custom-shaped, multi-radius neck and special, hand-applied oil finish that duplicates that smooth, time-worn feel. Even the edge of the fingerboard is rounded to give the impression that this guitar has been played constantly for many years. From the moment you first pick it up, the Blazer feels like an old, reliable friend.

YAHOO AUCTIONS Yahoo! This site has millions of visitors, plus a nice section on findign out who you are buying from or selling to. They allow pictures of items, a really important feature.

HARMONY CENTRAL Harmony Central If it is related to music, it is here. Plus, they have a nice new and used gear price list to allow you to shop wisely.

Ibanez has made some major changes for 1999. In our opinion, for the better. On the guitar front they have introduced a few new s of interest. Among these are the expanded prestige line, a very nice and also very affordable SCR220, the AF207 7 string jazz box, a new JEM 7D, and the very popular GAX series. In addition, many new finishes are available. Guitars no longer available for 1999 include the Talman series, the GRX70 series and the GTR series basses.

On the bass front, Ibanez released 3 very nice signature basses. The Verdine White, Gary Willis and the Doug Wimbish. Also, the introduction of the BTB series and the GSR series. The latter, I predict, will be among the best selling basses for 1999. Ibanez DW Bass

Ibanez released three signature series basses for 1999, we would like to talk about the Doug Wimbish this month' Doug Wimbish s DWB1 / DWB2 (Doug Wimbish is the first call of first call New York session bassists. His impressive recording and performance resume includes bass duties on the original Sugarhill Records, experimental funk group Tackhead, the hard rock act Living Colour, the Rolling Stones, and his own band, Jungle Funk.) The DW's ergonomically designed, 3-dimensional curved multi-laminated maple body allows the bass to comfortably hug the curves of the player's body while the extended lower horn provides the bass with perfect weight balance when strapped on or placed on the thigh. Behind each of the horns are carved scoops, which allow true access to the upper registers. The neck combines the traditional feel of a vintage bass from the 60s with a modern, double octave rosewood fingerboard, which is adorned with pearl and abalone oval inlays. The Ibanez AFR pickups and a specially designed simple, but powerful two-band DWB EQ were paired to offer the versatility that a player like Doug demands from his bass day in and day out.
