News

20th February:
In the last race of the season, Ylva finally got a good result. She finished 12th in today's slalom in Åre in front of her home crowd. Ylva is now racing on even shorter skis than before, only 160 cm, and she says that they feel good and that she has now understood how to ski on them. Ylva will continue skiing next season too, so the retirement rumours are wrong. She says that she will give the new skis and the new technique another season to see how good she can get, and today's result showed that she still can mix it with the best.

17th February:
The slalom in Åre on Sunday, might become Ylva's last WC-performance. She says that she lacks motivation and that she is very uncertain about next season.

13th February:
After a couple of D.N.F's in the latest slaloms, Ylva managed to get some World Cup points in Santa Caterina. She finished 28th, but was the slowest skier to reach the finish. Hopefully some World Cup competitions on homesnow in Åre can make Ylva show a little of her form from previous seasons.

9th January:
Due to the lack of results this season, Ylva has now been pushed out of the first start group, the top 15 ranked skiers. And she didn't improve her ranking today in the slalom in Berchtesgaden, she skied out in the first run.

8th January:
Ylva was on her way to a good time in the 2nd run of the Berchtesgaden GS, but a hole in the snow ruined her day. She got stuck in the hole and had no chance to get the skis back on track. Ylva was 23rd after the first run, and was leading at the halfway split in the 2nd run, when she skied out ten seconds later.

6th January:
After 10 seconds of skiing, Ylva's slalom challenge was over. She got late in a turn and was unable to make the next one.

5th January:
It's good to see that Ylva is regaining her form. In the first WC race of the new millennium, a giant slalom in Maribor, Ylva finished 20th.

29th December:
Finally!!! I'm sure that I wasn't the only Swede who was almost touched when I saw Ylva's first run of today's slalom. She has changed from her old skis to the new, short carving skis, and for the past weeks she has worked on the new technique. For the first time this season, she qualified for the 2nd run in a slalom. And she didn't only qualify, she was 8th!!! Unluckily she made some small mistakes in the 2nd run that cost time, and with the small margins there were in this race, she dropped to 16th. Still, it was a very good performance that should give her some confidence for next year.

28th December:
Like she has done before in many giant slaloms, Ylva failed to finish, this time in the first run.

24th December:
After a couple of weeks training on homesnow in Åre, Sweden, Ylva has decided to race in the two slaloms held in Lienz, Austria, between Christmas and New Year.

12th December:
Ylva decided to skip the Sestriere slalom today. Instead she has gone home to Sweden to train and hopefully find the motivation, feeling, confidence and lust again. Ylva says that she at the moment is sick of skiing, and that she needed a break from the World Cup because of the bad results. She says in an interview with Expressen that she doesn't know when, or if she will be back, it depends on if she finds the feeling and motivation again. At the earliest she will be back for the next slalom, in Lienz, Austria on December 28th.

9th December:
It's upsetting to see Ylva ski. Her selfconfidence is gone as well as her motivation. Today she wasn't in the top 30 after the first run, and therefore wasn't allowed to ski the 2nd. Ylva herself says that like the way things are now, she wants to give up skiing.

5th December:
Like in the last slalom competition, Ylva was unable to qualify for the 2nd run. Today she skied with a pair of giant slalom skis instead of the slalom skis she used in Copper Mountain. But, no big improvement could be seen, and the question is if Ylva will be able to get back into the top again, or if her days as one of the stars in the slalom discipline are over.

4th December:
In todays's giant slalom in Serre Chevalier, Ylva was best of the Swedes with her 22nd place.

20th November:
The Copper Mountain slalom was a huge disappointment for Ylva. The winner of the slalom cup two seasons ago finished 55th in the first run, 4.55 sec. behind the leader. Ylva clearly hasn't get used to the new technic yet that is necessary for the new, much shorter slalom skis. Hopefully some weeks of training will do her good.

19th November:
With the 2nd fastest time in the 2nd run, Ylva moved from 21st to 13th position in today's giant slalom, with only a couple of hundreds up to the top 10.

30th October:
Like in many giant slaloms last season, Ylva failed to finish the premier race in Tignes, France. Halfway down the course she got late in a couple of turns and the challenge was over.
