Range and Firing Point Standards for 10m Ranges
-
The firing point must be a minimum of 1.0m wide
-
The range must have the following general specifications:
- The fuiring point must be constructed so that it does not vibrate or move when other persons are walking close by. From the firing line to approximately 1.2m rearward, the firing point must be level in all directions.
- A removable or adjustable bench or stand, 0.7m to 1.0m high
- A chair or stool for the shooter
- A desk and chair for the Register Keeper and, if necessary, a spotting telescope.
- A scoreboard, approximately 50cm x 50cm, on which the Register Keeper can post unofficial scores for the spectators. The scoreboard should be located so that it can easily be seen by the spectators but does not obscure their view of the shooters.
- The range must be constructed so that the shooters are adequately protected from rain, sun and wind.
- 10m ranges must be equipped with electric-mechanical target carriers or changers
-
Lighting
Indoor 10m ranges must have artificial lighting providing the necessary amounts of light without glare or distracting shadows on the targets or firing points. The entire are must be evenly illuminated with no less than 300 lux. The targets must be illuminated with no less than 800 lux and no more than 1000 lux. The background are behind the targets must be a non-reflecting, medium, neutral color. If flourecent lights are used, multiple tubes working "out-of-phase" must be provided.
The lighting must be measured in the following way:

- Measuring of the target illumination(800-100 lux) must be done with the measuring device held at the level of the target and pointed toward the firing point
- Measuring general illumination (a minimum of 300 lux)
- The measuring device must be held at the firing point and midway between the firing point and the target line with the device directed toward the ceiling illumination. (see Figure 10)
-
Height of Target Center(Center of the Ten Ring)
The centers of the targets must be 1.40m, with an allowable variation of plus/minus 0.05m, when measured from the level of the floor of the firing point. All target centers within a group of targets must have the same height(plus/minus 1.0cm)
-
Horizontal Variations of Target Centers(Center of the Ten Ring)
Horizontal deviations from a center line drawn from the perpendicular (90 degrees) to the center of the firing point must not exceed 0.25 meters.
-
Shooting Distance
Shooting distance must be as exact as possible, 10 meters, plus/minus 0.05m
