What is the A.R.P.T?
The Ateneo Rifle Pistol Team(ARPT) is one of the biggest varsity teams in the Ateneo de Manila University. Its goal is to train and develop willing individuals into good shooters and win in Interschool Airgun Shooting Competitions(specializing in UIT Match Air Pistol and UIT Match Air Rifle). It also provides oppurtunities for exceptionally good shooters to enter the Philippine national shooting scene. Our motto? We simply aim to excel. The ARPT is composed of over 30 dedicated men and women who share a passion for precision shooting. For them, the shooting range is more than just a place to practice in; it is a place to meet friends, study, chat, rest or simply to have fun, as a tambayan is for. The Man behind the Team Coach
Danny Flores has been with the team since 1988. A veteran of the
Philippine National Team and SEA Games medalist, Danny has handled national
team shooters like Donna Elaine Vallar, Therese Cantada and Rasheya Jasmin
Luis. Jasmin Luis currently holds the number one spot in the Philippines
for UIT Ladies Air rifle and Small bore 3-position. Under Danny's
guidance, several of our varsity have already achieved national training
team status.
No one can beat Danny when it somes to his incredible "youth" and kalokohan. Come to think of it, he's more than just a living monument of the ARPT; he's coach, matchmaker, advisor, father confessor, and don't forget -- our father figure. STAR SEARCH The team is always on the look out
for new stars and talents to add to its merry band of shooters. We
don't really mind if you've never touch a gun in your life, much less fired
one in your whole life. If you're a student of the Ateneo, friendly,
dedicated, willing to learn and if your motto in life coincides with ours,
then our best bet is that you'll be accepted.
The ARPT recruits members during the
beginning of the 1st Semester of the school year. During that time,
we will have a table ready where you could get application forms and other
information that you might require.
