EJ Feihl's fate in Jawo's hands. The fate of EJ Feihl, who is asking for a P200,000 monthly salary from Ginebra, is now in the hands of playing-coach Robert Jaworski. Both Feihl, represented by his manager Nonie Mediarito, and the Ginebra management have agreed to wait for the arrival of Jaworski from an extended Christmas vacation in the United States to resolve the negotiation which has reached an impasse. Ginebra said it could not act on the request of Feihl, currently receiving P150,000 a month, until Jaworski hits town because it doesn't want to preempt the coach's decision on the matter. Ginebra, however, had declared that it is not ready to give in to Feihl's demand because it would upset the Ginebra payroll. The team's top player, Marlou Aquino, is receiving P200,000 and management said the 7-foot Feihl is not in the same league as Aquino. "Hindi totoong kami ang nagpapatagal sa negotiations. It's just that as an agent I'm just trying to get the best contract possible," said Mediarito, the same agent who negotiated the three-year, P14.4-million contract of Jeffrey Cariaso. "Ber (Navarro, La Tondena president) and I agreed na hihintayin na lang namin si Sonny (for the continuation of the negotiations)," he said. Mediarito bared that Pure Foods and Shell already sent feelers to hire Feihl but both teams have yet to tender offer sheets. However, another ballclub is about to give the junior center a tempting offer. "Aside from Shell at Pure Foods, mayroong isa pang team ang mukhang seryoso na kunin siya (Feihl)," said Mediarito. However, he refused to identify the team. Mediarito also revealed that another client, 6'7 Chris Bolado, who was dealt to Pure Foods in exchange for Rodney Santos and Bryant Punzalan, signed a PP6.3 million, three-year contract with the Cowboys. Meanwhile, pointguard Olsen Racela has been given until last night to bare his intentions whether he is still wants to stay with Pure Foods. Pure Foods is dangling a three-year pact but as of now, Racela is not biting as the Cowboys' contract offer is lower than his asking price of P300,000 a month. "Maganda naman ang details ng contract at hindi nagkakalayo sa posible niyang makuha sa Mobiline o San Miguel kaya gustong malaman ng Pure Foods kung ayos sa kanya yung deal," said a reliable source close to the Racela camp. Mobiline already tendered an offer sheet to Racela that would give him a P250,000 a month. Over at the Shell camp, team manager Jimmy Aizon said that his team will not have a major change for the upcoming season but is inclined to draft Angelo David. "Kailangan namin ng big man so I think he (David) can fit the bill," Aizon said. Regarding the fates of his players with expiring contracts, Aizon bared that they have "agreed in principle" with Elmer Lago and Peter Naron to three-year pacts with the formal signing expected to take place in a few days.
