Stan SmylAssistant Coach
1993-94 marks the beginning of Stan Smyl's 17th season with the Vancouver Canucks. A hard working right winger in his playing days, Smyl retired as an active player after 13 seasons with the club, on July 3, 1991. That day Pat Quinn named him an Assistant Coach of the team.

One of the most popular and honored players in the club's 25 year history, Smyl retired as the Canucks all-time leader in games played (896), goals (262), assists (411) and points (673). Also the Canucks longest serving captain (1982-90), Smyl's No. 12 jersey was retired on November 3, 1991.

A three time winner of the Canucks MVP award, Smyl led the team in goals (31), assists (47), points (78) and penalty minutes (204) during the 1979-80 season, the last time any NHL player has led his team in all four categories
