Shane Corson had a pair of goals and Jocelyn Thibault stopped 38 shots as the Montreal Canadiens routed the Vancouver Canucks, 6-1.
Vincent Damphousse added a goal and an assist and Saku Koivu and Stephane Richer had two assists apiece for the Canadiens, who defeated the Canucks at home for the first time since December 6th, 1993.
Thibault wasn't spectacular but managed to stonewall the Canucks for the first 57 minutes. Only a soft goal on a rebound by Lief Rohlin prevented Thibault from earning the shutout.
Canucks goaltender Mike Fountain, who recorded a shutout in his first NHL game on Thursday, wasn't as sharp tonight, getting pulled in the second period after allowing five goals on 17 shots.
