Detroit Red Wings at Vancouver Canucks

Brendan Shanahan scored his 42nd goal and set up another as the Detroit Red Wings extended their unbeaten streak to a season-high 10 games by holding on for a 5-3 victory over the slumping Vancouver Canucks.

Martin Lapointe, Tomas Holmstrom, Igor Larionov and Nicklas Lidstrom also tallied for Detroit, which is 6-0-4 since February 14th. Mike Vernon made only 17 saves, but stretched his personal unbeaten stretch to five games (2-0-3).

Scott Walker, Esa Tikkanen and Markus Naslund scored for Vancouver, which is winless in its last four games (0-3-1) and has just one win in its last eight.

After the game, the Canucks traded Tikkanen and Russ Courtnall -- who had two assists -- to the New York Rangers for center Sergei Nemchinov and right wing Brian Noonan.
