Brendan Shanahan scored a power-play goal with 2:28 left in the third period as the Detroit Red Wings rallied for a 2-2 tie against the Vancouver Canucks.
Detroit had a 4-on-3 advantage when Igor Larionov took a slap shot from the point that was deflected to Shanahan in the right faceoff circle. Shanahan took a slap shot that deflected off defenseman Jyrki Lumme's right skate and past goaltender Corey Hirsch.
Detroit, which had the only shot in overtime, is 4-2-2 in its last eight games and 3-1-1 in its last five meetings with Vancouver.
Canucks captain Trevor Linden was sidelined with a left knee sprain, ending the NHL's longest current consecutive games played streak at 482. He is expected to miss six to eight weeks.
Detroit outshot Vancouver, 10-5, in the first period and dominated the second until Markus Naslund scored his eighth goal to snap a scoreless tie with 6:19 remaining. Naslund and Russ Courtnall broke into the Detroit zone 2-on-1 against defenseman Jamie Pushor. Courtnall skated down the right wing, waited for Pushor to go down and flipped a pass to Naslund, who lifted a wrist shot from the slot over goaltender Chris Osgood from the slot.
Chris Joseph scored his third goal, a power-play marker, to give Vancouver a 2-0 lead just 96 seconds later. Mike Ridley had the puck behind the Detroit net and fed a streaking Joseph, who flipped a wrist shot by Osgood from the bottom of the right circle.
After Pavel Bure was called for hooking with 44 seconds left in the second, Sergei Fedorov scored at 19:53. Larionov controlled the puck in the left corner and passed to Fedorov, who skated to the bottom of the left circle and released a slap shot that nicked Hirsch's stick before falling behind him. It was the seventh goal of the season and second in as many games for Fedorov.
Hirsch made 39 saves in his seventh straight start and is 7-6-1 on the season.
