Vancouver Canucks at Philadelphia Flyers

Scott Daniels' goal with just under eight minutes to play snapped a tie and lifted the Philadelphia Flyers to a 4-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks.

With the score tied, 3-3, Rod Brind'Amour picked up a loose puck along the left boards and passed it back to Kevin Haller at the point. Haller's shot deflected off Daniels, who was in the slot, between Corey Hirsch's pads for his fourth marker of the season and first in 13 games.

Ron Hextall made just 16 saves for the Flyers, who are 2-0-1 in their last three home games.

Hirsch stopped 28 shots for Vancouver, which has lost three of four on its six-game road trip.

Both teams combined for five goals in the third period to break open a 1-1 tie.

Philadelphia scored first on Eric Desjardins' power-play marker 36 seconds into the period before Vancouver tied it on Russ Courtnall's backhander from the edge of the right circle less than two minutes later.

John LeClair snapped a four-game goal-scoring drought at 4:39. Karl Dykhuis took a shot from the left point which banked off the end boards to LeClair at the right post. LeClair stuffed the puck into Hirsch's chest and the force knocked both the puck and the goalie over the goal line.

The play was reviewed, but LeClair was credited with his 14th goal.

Dana Murzyn tied it for Vancouver just over four minutes later with a blast from the left point. It was Murzyn's first goal since last December 22nd, a span of 82 games.

The Canucks' Martin Gelinas and Brind'Amour traded second-period goals.

Vancouver captain Trevor Linden left after the second period with a left knee injury. He did not return and his status is unknown.
