For a team that has played more playoff games than any other team in the past 4 years, they sure as hell aren't proving to us that they have any intentions of any kind whatsoever of playing any more playoff games anytime soon.
That's damn disheartening for us fans. My jaw continously drops when I see G.M. Place packed, loud and ready to go for every single night. I can't believe there are still people with signs saying "Come Back Canucks," or "Come on guys you can do it!" To resist myself from slipping out a chuckle would be pretty untruthful.
I'm not saying I haven't given up on this team. Actually.....I have said that. They've given up on themselves, so why Canucks fans, why are we still supporting them? The Canucks better consider themselves lucky, to have such loyal fans. Many days I await a chorus of boos to arise from the stands, and while there are some boos, there aren't as many as there should be.
Mike Sillinger said after the Sharks loss that "we played like crap." Nawwww. Ya think Mike? Are ya really sure? Positive now? How about you and the rest of your teammates stop saying and start doing. Are you gonna tell us that you played like crap every game? Well do something about it! You've just lost to the worst hockey team in the NHL. Of course you played like crap.
The chances of the Canucks making the playoffs are extremely slim. The chances of Pat Quinn picking up the right player for this team are slim. This will most definitely be a good learning experience for all.
I guess the defence to all this is that the Leafs, who will also miss the playoffs have played the second most playoff games in the past 4 years. Well at this point I'd rather be a Leafs fan. At least they have something to look forward to. We have the possibility of Alex Mogilny not returning to the team, Pavel Bure missing part of next season with that whiplash injury, and us Canucks fans get to look forward to another sub .500 season next year.
I think I speak for most when I say: Being a Canucks fan sucks.
