Abstract:
The Near Infrared Camera and Multi-Object Spectrometer (NICMOS) is a
second-generation instrument for the Hubble Space Telescope (HST).
The NICMOS Investigation Definition Team (IDT) is developing test and
analysis software in preparation for the installation of NICMOS on the
HST during the February, 1997 servicing mission. This software is being
developed in the IDL environment with some routines written in C. The
tasks currently under development that will be demonstrated are:
- interactive GUI-driven image calibration and analyis tool
- interactive GUI-driven multi-image processing tool for viewing up to
50 images simultaneously, computing median, mean, and standard deviation
images, generating noise statistics, detecting cosmic rays, and identifying
bad pixels
- graphical user interfaces to drive the synphot tasks countrate and
simimage in the STSDAS package
