Introduction to the Black Holocaust:
How and Why Did it Happen?

The Fall of Black Power

The loss of Black power was a key reason for the Black Holocaust. The downfall of African cultural complexes can be blamed on a host of factors including environmental changes and internal struggles. But by far, the most disastrous effect has been left by the continent's invaders. Africa, envied for its wealth, has been invaded repeatedly. Continually from the north, waves of non-Black peoples invaded and settled portions of the continent, pushing Africans further into the interior. The idea that Africans are a backwards people devoid of history and achievement is a common one. This belief was a primary tool used to rationalize the brutalities inflicted upon Africa's sons and daughters. But it is well known that for several thousand years, the greater part of human history, Africans were developing their own cultural complexes and contributing to others outside of the continent.

westtern-Asian groups who would spell Africa's downfall. As Black cultures fell to these invaders, the shock waves were felt throughout the continent. Those who moved into new areas displaced others as wars began over lacking resources. What was worse was that with these invaders came new ideologies eroding traditional African culture. Many Africans, pledging themselves to these new found philosophies, became leaders in destructive campaigns against fellow Africans.

By the time the Europeans arrived to begin the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade, many of Africa's greatest states were in decline or had vanished. Europeans first began trading goods with the few small states they found along the coast. Trading in goods soon turned to a trade in human bodies. Slavery was not unknown to the human world and by no means was a confined African phenomenon. But due to circumstance, Africa became the primary region for acquiring slaves for some West Asians. For Europeans it became the only source. Thus the African and slavery became linked in a way they never had before.

The New Racism

Some states resisted this new policy. Others took part in selling fellow Africans from other ethnic groups and even gained considerable power from the trade. But the power was relative. Africa as a whole never collectively benefited from the slave trade. And as a result it would leave the continent drained of manpower, exhausted, fractured and in the midst of chaos. When Europeans swept the continent again during the era of colonization, the resistance they encountered was easily overcome. By this time the view of Africans had changed considerably. The new racism of the western world would declare Africans, now centuries in servitude, inferior in body and mind. Thus colonization was rationalized. And when Africoid populations far from Africa were found, as in the case of Australia and Africa, they were treated with the same disdain and brutality.

Why Did It Happen?
Self Blame and the Victim

Many often ask "why did this happen?" Some have even postulated that perhaps Black people did some past act to bring this upon themselves. Some have thus concluded that Blacks are "cursed." Others believe that these series of events were put into motion by some "Deity" in order to test the resolve of Black people. As strange as they may seem, these thoughts are only natural as human beings often try to find reasons behind events. But we must remember that one of the key symptoms of oppression is for victims to blame themselves. Thus this page will NOT put forth any of the above theories. Rather we will simply chronicle the events as they occurred. In truth all we can ever "conclusively" attempt to do is to identify the historic causes behind these events. In this way we can best learn from our past so that we may move towards the future.
