Name Poems

Name Poems are a good ice-breaker with a class, or to vary the creative writing diet. A class is instructed to write the initial letters of their names down the left hand column of a page. Then the initial letters are used to form lines of verse. Here are some examples: Note that you don't only have to use names - you can use any word!
Sadly, hurtfully,
I made my way to school
Parked my bum upon my seat
Head on folded arms
O why did I have to ask her out!
Grateful for my friends,
Under my parents' iron discilpine,
Greedy for the freedom of a world outside school,
Unfortunately I still need to pass!
Shut up, you at the back!
Can't you learn to behave?
How dare you do that in My class!
O dear, time to go to school again,
O dear, time to switch off again,
Listening to the daily, dreary, grind.
