Flight Simulator 98

For those who have bought Flight Simulator Version XX in the past, this version, as usual, adds even more options to the basic program. Keep in mind that this program will only run in the Windows 95 environment. Also, you need a pretty heavy duty computer to keep the program from being 'jerky'.

A few comments for now:
1. The ground textures are smoother, not so blocky, as version 5.1
2. There seems to be more ground details and objects, especially at airports.
3. My old FS 5.1 Cessna 182 had a noticeable prop steer to the left. This version does not.
4. Thrustmaster Joystick seems to work better with this version of Fltsim, meaning that you have more 'pull back' on the stick. Perhaps the Windows 95 Joystick calibration routines are specifically designed to handle the 'non-centered' Thrustmaster Joysticks.
5. This version has a helicopter, which I have yet to figure out how to fly. I guess I will have to read the manual! All other helicopter programs like Apache, Longbow, GS2000, are easy to fly. This one is like balancing a basketball on your finger, with the ball rotating very slow...
6. Air Rescue 911 add-on for this version of fltsim is still fun and challenging. I got it as a closeout store for $15, and is still worth it.
7. Bought the 747 add-on program as an impulse buy at CompUsa. This add-on needs Flight Simulator version 95 or 98. It's no big deal to fly, and not especially worth it come to think of it. The built in 737 is actually slightly harder to land than the 747. The 747 is a really smooth flying plane, even when landing into Hong Kong Runway 6. The roll rate is slow but smooth. The cockpit is nice looking, but is only for show since the non-essential dials are hard to read.
