2.0 - General

The Neo-Dalmatian language has three cases: nominative, accusative, and dative. It has two genders, masculine and feminine, and two numbers, singular and plural.

Gender in Neo-Dalmatian is grammatical, i.e. inanimate objects may be masculine or feminine. In general, masculine nouns end in a consonant, e.g. regiuán "region", kluf "key", viçáin "neighbour"; feminine nouns end in -a: struóta "street", páira "pear". Like the other Romance languages, the nominative singular has no special marker. The marker of the nominative plural is -s. In the oblique cases, consonant-stem nounshave no marker, rather the nominative form is used, while vowel-stem nouns undergo Ablaut in the final vowel, e.g.

La lóina ast dzuóla. "The moon is yellow"
Les res soant da les yoámnes. "The kings are of the men, i.e. Kings are men.
Yu klam per ma seráure. "I call for my sister."
