I always buit airplanes of all kinds but I was getting tired of it them I decide do try to build something different, so I choose to build this famous WWII Battleship.
The idea is to enhanced the kit to be used as an R/C ship.
I've got some experience by building a 1/700 scale Bismarck before going on buinding the 1/350.
Above : This is a 40 cm long ship, it was my first experience building plastic kit ships.
I had it converted to R/C using circuits "guts" from one of those very cheap R/C cars you can find on any toy shop or supermarket.
The most dificult part to me was to build a gearbox using randon spare gears to connect all properllers (3) to one simgle motor... but I end up having 3, it proved to difficult to get a well in sync propeller direction by mechanical means and since I do better with eletronics so I decide to have RPM control digitally on each motor by doing some changes on the R/C receiver circuit.
There is no rudder, direction change is made by reversing one of the outside motors to the side witch you want to go, center motor stops when one of the outside motors is in reverse. It proved to be easier and the results were great , the ship got well aligned, no tendencies to go left or right, good seep forward and backward and the Radio control range is up to 30 meter more than needed to this ship size and intent.
Bellow the "little and big brothers" side by side.
I will have updates on the "Big Broder" as I find some time to work on it.
