Quidditch is a game that is played over a period of five days on
There are four positions in Quidditch, and like in Quidditch in the books, each job has a separate duty.
Beaters participate in a debate. Each team has two beaters, one of which participates in each round. Standard round consists of one argument and one rebuttal from each team; lightning round consists of no less than six posts total and should include opening and closing arguments. Ligntning round continues for as many posts as both beaters are able to participate in and/or until both have completed their arguements.
Chasers are given either three challenges, one for each chaser, or one large challenge for the chasers to work on together. If given three challenges, they usually consist of one art, one fiction, and one mixed media; if given three challenges, the work will usually consist of mixed media. [note: I don't know if we want to include this, but on the other hand if the chasers haven't figured this out by now, they are morons.] Chaser challenges are given in riddle format; some riddles are harder than others.
Keepers are given the "busy work" of the teams. Their jobs consist of organization and some sort of miscellaneous task (we've had them create team uniforms, write theme songs, solve puzzles...) and also of posting the completed chaser challenges to the field.
Seekers have the hardest job of all. In the first season, only one snitch was caught. The seeker is given a clue; if solved properly it should lead to some member of the HGCH staff (but not quidditch captains!) That staff member will give the seeker a second clue, which if solved correctly will lead to the snitch answer, which will be then posted to the main field. Seekers get five guesses at the snitch on a turn-by-turn basis. Only one seeker may catch the snitch.
The point system was revamped after the first season; it is now designed so that if one team gets a middle range amount of points on their beater, chaser, and keeper challenges and also catches the snitch they will tie with a team that receives maximum points on the chaser, beater, and keeper challenges but doesn't catch the snitch.
Pep squads are open to anyone to post to; they are worth house points and house members are encouraged to post graphics, poems, songs, or anything else they can think of to the pep squad threads. This is a great way to get involved in quidditch matches.
