The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), often referred to as Prophet Muhammad or simply Muhammad, is the central figure of Islam and is considered the last prophet in a long line of prophets that includes Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus in Islamic tradition. He is also known as Rasulullah, which means "Messenger of Allah."

Biography: Muhammad was born in Mecca, in present-day Saudi Arabia, in the year 570 CE (approximately) to the Hashim clan of the powerful Quraysh tribe. His full name is Muhammad ibn Abd Allah. His father, Abdullah, passed away before his birth, and his mother, Aminah, died when he was just six years old. Thus, he was orphaned at an early age. He was then raised by his grandfather, Abdul Muttalib, and later by his uncle, Abu Talib.

Muhammad grew up to be known for his honesty, integrity, and trustworthiness, earning him the nickname "Al-Amin" (the trustworthy) among his people. At the age of 25, he entered the service of a wealthy widow named Khadijah, whom he later married.

At the age of 40, while meditating in a cave known as Hira, on the outskirts of Mecca, Muhammad received his first revelation from the angel Gabriel. This event marked the beginning of his prophethood and the revelation of the Quran, which is considered the holy book of Islam. Over the next 23 years, Muhammad received a series of revelations, which were later compiled into the Quran.

Muhammad's teachings centered on the belief in one God (Allah) and the oneness of God. He preached monotheism, social justice, and the importance of compassion, kindness, and charity. His message challenged the existing tribal and pagan practices in Mecca, which led to significant opposition from the Quraysh leaders.

In 622 CE, due to the increasing persecution of early Muslims, Muhammad and his followers migrated to the city of Yathrib, later known as Medina. This event, known as the Hijra, marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar. In Medina, Muhammad established a thriving Muslim community and became both a religious and political leader.

Muhammad's prophethood continued for about 23 years, during which he united the Arabian Peninsula under the banner of Islam. He passed away in the year 632 CE in Medina at the age of 63. His death marked the end of his prophethood, but his message and teachings continue to guide the lives of over a billion Muslims around the world.

Muhammad is highly revered in Islam, and he is often referred to as "The Seal of the Prophets," indicating that he is the final prophet in a long line of messengers from God. His life and teachings continue to serve as a source of inspiration, guidance, and moral principles for Muslims worldwide. Muslims typically add the honorific phrase "Peace be upon him" (PBUH) after mentioning his name as a sign of respect and reverence.
