NETWORK ARCHITECTURE



BUS TOPOLOGY
  •  A BUS NETWORK CONSISTS OF A SINGLE CENTRAL CABLE (BACKBONE/TRUNK), TO WHICH ALL COMPUTERS AND OTHER DEVICES CONNECT (NODE).
  • THE BUS IS THE PHYSICAL CABLE THAT CONNECTS THE COMPUTERS AND OTHER DEVICES. EACH DEVICES IS CONNECTED TO THE SINGLE BUS CABLE THROUGH T-CONNECTOR.A TERMINATORREQUIRED AT EACH END OF BUS CABLE TO PREVENT THE SIGNAL FROM BOUNCING BACK AND FORTH ON THE BUS CABLE.
  • TRANSMIT DATA , INSTRUCTIONSAND INFORMATION (DII) AS A SERIES OF SIGNAL IN BOTH DIRECTIONS WHERE ALL NODES RECEIVE THE SIGNAL BUT ONLY INTENDED RECIPIENT WILL ACCEPT THE REST WILL IGNORE.


RING TOPOLOGY
  • A CABLE FORMS A CLOSED LOOP (RING) WITH ALL COMPUTERS AND DEVICES ARRANGED ALONG THE RING.
  • DATA TRANSMITTED FROM DEVICE TO DEVICE AROUND ENTIRE RING IN ONE DIRECTION (CLOCKWISE OR ANTICLOCKWISE) AND REACH ITS DESTINATION USING TOKEN.


STAR TOPOLOGY
  • ALL COMPUTERS AND OTHER DEVICES ON THE NETWORK CONNECT TO CENTRAL DEVICE (SWITCH/HUB) THUS PERFORMING A STAR.
  • IN HUB: SIGNAL WILL SEND TO ALL NODES BUT ONLY INTENDED RECIPIENT WILL ACCEPT THE SIGNAL AND THE REST WILL IGNORE.
  • IN SWITVH : SIGNAL WILL SEND DIRECTLY TO THE INTENDED RECIPIENT.
