On the second weekend of July a dozen or so alumni gathered at the Windy City to have a toast to them old days and begin the Chicago Hillo Summer Reunion. There were other school alumni who helped us remembering boarding and rekindle school spirit. Although the first meet was planned to be just a Saturday event, the action began Friday and lasted to Sunday. Apparently the Chicagoans had not had enough of reuniting yet, and so it was decided that another reunion be held the next month. The activities that alumni had were basically an impromptu evening social at the PC Lounge, then the attendance of a Kenyan memorial service at the Kenyan Church in Evanston, followed by another refrehsments gathering and finally a get-together involving all sorts of schools with Hillo, including Kaptagat Preparatory( KP2), Nairobi -"Patch" School (aka Prince of Wales) and Lenana "Changes". It was a great weekend of comradery, commemoration, planning and remembrance. These Chicagoans decided to show they too can hang, be focused and most importantly keep the hillo spirit alive. They say a picture is worth a 1000 words, so it is probably best to show a glimpse of what occurred. There was no group shot of Hillo Alumni since there were different events and everyone was too busy having fun to remember. These captured moments will definitely convince you that this was a fun-packed, mind-blowing and exhilarating weekend that left the participants well spent, yet asking for more. See for yourself:
