Hillo Revisited- December 2002

Just the week before elections, Hillo was eerily quiet. It had been near 15 years since and so a lot seemed different. The first noticeable change was the wrought- iron gate by Block 1. All other entrances were sealed off. Gone are the days of esacping or jumping fence. Since it was holiday season, school was closed and most staff left for the elections. There were a number of teachers outside the gate awaiting the expected TSC outcome on the year-long pay impasse. After a tour of the school, it was good to at last see a familiar face. Christina, the upsatirs Block 1 matron was still there and also Mrs. Tuimising in Block 3 who gave a first hand narration of the 90's and what happened leading to the All girls secondary school. It was a good experience seeing the hillo campus. Below are pics that give a more vivid description of the school
