Four down, one more to go
photo

We had the distinct pleasure of attending four weddings in September!!  Congratulations to Amy & David, Patricia & Josip, Mona & Ryan, and Abby & Kevin!!!  Thanks very much for inviting us to your wonderful weddings!!

Each wedding was quite distinct in setting, size, and style, reflecting the personalities and tastes of each couple.  We enjoyed attending each wedding, but also couldn't help gawking a little bit on how arrangements came together and thinking about our own upcoming wedding.

One wedding was at a stylish museum.  Another was at a hip San Francisco restaurant.  Yet another was at a wine country golf course club.  And another had a big church ceremony and then a grand hotel reception.

Despite the significant differences, we noticed that at all four recent Bay Area weddings:

  • there was no bouquet toss

  • there was no garter toss

  • the wedding cake layers were square, not round

  • none of the couples smashed cake into each others faces

  • all four brides wore strapless gowns

  • dinner was served at the table, not buffet style

  • the ceremonies were all between 15 and 25 minutes

It would seem these would be considered new trends in weddings.  We'll see which ones we'll follow and which ones we won't!

Two of the weddings had photobooths available for guests to take pictures during the cocktail party and reception, and then attach them to scrap books.  The photos in this blog entry were from the photobooth prints at Mona's and Ryan's wedding -- scanned and recomposited by Mason.  Photobooths seem to be a really fun new trend at wedding receptions.  We had a blast taking lots of pictures at the two weddings with them.

Thanks again to all the newly married couples!

We have one more wedding to attend this year, in late October.
