Kai is now two weeks old exactly and is doing fantastically well.  He has already gained a double chin and we're getting excited for the rolls of love to add on as he voraciously eats breastmilk.  He is quite the eater!  Zack and I have several nicknames for him.  "Eratus" goes with his amazing ability to eat.  The one attached to this message is what happens right after Kai finishes eating when he's "milk drunk"--he extends his head backwards in pure relaxation.  The nickname attached to this expression is "the Turtle" for his cute turtle neck. :)  He is also "Little Piglet" because of his grunting noises when he stirs in sleep, and when he is nursing.  He earned the name "Wizard" when we learned how well functioning his bowels are in keeping the cycle of milk coming through, diaper on or off. :) 

Kai is so pleasant most of the time, and cries only when something is wrong--he's in need of a diaper change, he has gas, or he's hungry.  Lately he's learned that crying really gets his parents attention, so he skips gentle crying and goes right into angry screams.  But he is easily consoled and it doesn't last long.  It was scary for Mom and Dad at first, but now we laugh as we hurry and fix the problem.

Kai basically eats, sleeps, and is awake for only segments of time, but he has started sleeping for long periods twice daily--once at night.  That is a great blessing to his parents and we hope he keeps it up.

Dad and Mom are doing well.  Mom had stitches and is healing nicely.  We feel very blessed to have had my mother here for a week and a half, and Zack's mom is coming to be with us tomorrow for a week.  It has been a huge help and a great gift to have both grandmothers share their wisdom with us and teach us how to be parents.
