Dear ,
I am pleased that you have an interest in volunteering with the YWCA! The YWCA relies heavily on our capable and energetic volunteers in all of our program and administrative areas. As you may know, the mission of the YWCA is really two-fold; 1) to empower women and girls towards reaching their full potential and 2) to work towards the elimination of racism. I am grateful that you are interested in helping us further our mission... volunteers are indeed essential to our success!
We feel strongly about making sure your volunteer experience at the YW is a good one and for that reason, we have developed this process.
- Once you read over the enclosed information about all of the different YW programs and opportunities, please fill out the Volunteer Application and return it in the enclosed envelope.
- As soon as I receive your application, I will call you to set up your Volunteer Central interview. I call it an "interview" because it will be a time for you to learn more about our entire agency and to ask whatever questions or address any concerns you may have. While we need volunteers for many things, we want you to interview us to make sure it will be a mutually satisfying experience.
- At this meeting (which will take about 30 - 45 minutes), we'll talk about what feels best to you and how you'd like to proceed. Depending on the volunteer opportunity you choose, the next step will be program specific. For example, if you are interested in volunteering in our domestic violence program, an additional meeting will be required with shelter staff prior to the beginning of your formal training. If what you choose does not include any direct service with program participants, you may start your "on-the-job" training and orientation much sooner - if not immediately!
Thanks again for your interest in volunteering with the YW! I look forward to receiving your application in the enclosed envelope and then meeting with you personally. In the meantime, please don't hesitate to call me at _______ or email me at __________ if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Director of Volunteer Services
