Advisory Panel

Function:

The Advisory Panel is a group of men and women who support the mission of the YWCA of the Mid-Peninsula and actively work towards its furtherance in the community.

Members:

The panel is composed of 5-15 members, both men and women, who are experienced in specialized areas of responsibility. Not less than three shall have recognized competence in the administration of property and capital funds.

Members are elected by the Board of Directors from nominations made by the Nominating Committee of the Board for a term of three years and are eligible for re-election to a second three-year term. The Chair is chosen by the Advisory Panel from its elected members.

Responsibilities:

1. Support the mission of the YWCA--the empowerment of women and the elimination of racism.

2. Actively support and publicize the programs of the YWCA within the community at large.

3. Receive agendas and minutes for all Board of Directors meetings; regular program updates; and the proposed and revised United Way operating budgets.

4. Meet at least 3 times each year on general matters and to make recommendations to the Board regarding the use of United Way funding for the coming fiscal year.

5. Provide input into the strategic plan each year.

6. Meet jointly with the Board of Directors at least once yearly.

7. Pledge financial support yearly and assist in the YWCA's fundraising efforts.

8. Provide advice on an individual basis related to the area of expertise.
