TRAINING CURRICULUM PHILOSOPHY
This curriculum is based on experiential learning methodology. Our training is based on the principle that effective learning is best facilitated by involving participants in the learning process. In other words, people learn best when they are contributing or taking responsibility for their own development. There are other important elements that are part of this methodology which are reflected in the curriculum activities including:
welcoming and supportive environment
experiential activities and diverse teaching methodologies
reference to and application of your day-to-day functions
TRAINING OVERVIEW
To achieve 21st century competency related to the empowerment of women and girls and the elimination of racism, training is provided with an emphasis on the Mission of the YWCA of the U.S.A. and effective YWCA volunteer leadership and executive management strategies. It incorporates the best of the YWCA's training tradition and offers new ways to enhance your capacity to be effective YWCA leaders and agents for social change.
TRAINING FACULTY AND NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES
The Leadership Development Institute training team includes grassroots and national YWCA staff and volunteers. Your expertise and experiences as non-profit leaders will also enhance the training partnership. There are numerous benefits to this design for both the trainer and the participant.
After the training, you will need encouragement and reinforcement of the concepts and skills you have explored during the training. YWCA of the U.S.A. staff and training faculty can provide post-training support, but most important are the networks you will build among your peers.
