Diversity is a very sensitive issue, so it is important for YWCA leaders to address the diversity issues, experiences and concerns reflected in their associations. You can begin to do this by:

 

DEFINING DIVERSITY

Let's use this definition of work force diversity: Recognizing, appreciating, valuing and utilizing the unique talents and contributions of all individuals.

In the circle of differences, some differences are easy to see while others are not. We tend to focus on the most observable differences, but it is important also to be aware of differences that are less noticeable. The more differences we are aware of, the greater the opportunities are to develop a work environment that supports positive, productive workplace relationships.
