Bode and Paka 5
Paka is sitting, once again, on the lower section of the school roof, his hands behind his head. He appears to be half-asleep, his eyes heavily lidded.
Bode walks quietly from a building, still a bit awkward on his feet, obviously. He shields his eyes from the sunlight, glancing up as the figure of Paka catches the corner of his eye. A small frown passes over his lips, and he moves closer to where the other boy is, "...Paka...?"
Paka doesn't respond, fully closing his eyes as Bode walks near him.
Bode bites his lip, "...look, are you still mad at me?"
Paka still makes no response, instead turning onto his side so that his back is to the other boy.
Bode gives a quiet sigh, beginning to try and fumble up the sides of the building to reach him, "Please don't be upset..."
Paka lifts one hand, roughly pushing Bode away as he gets to close.
Bode yelps, slipping and falling back down to the ground. "..P-Paka...I..."
Paka turns to face him, offering a thick hissing sound and then climbs to his feet start to climb up to the second story roof.
Bode frowns, a bit confused by the hissing, but none-the-less upset. "..Paka, please!!" He slowly stands up, beginning once again to climb up, "I need you, Paka! Please!"
Paka, once securely upon the higher section of the roof, glares down at Bode.
Bode manages to get to the lower roof, looking up at Paka, "..at least say something to me..."
Paka moves back a bit, now near the edge of the second story roof. He glowers at Bode, refusing to answer.
Bode weakly begins to try and follow, "Paka...."
Paka glances over the edge of the roof... There was another section of the building perhaps six feet from where he stood. He could make that jump...maybe.
Bode bites his lip, slowly managing to get up, "...say something...it don't care what...anything..."
Paka glances across the edge again, back and Bode, and then over again. He could make that.
Bode stays where he is, watching Paka, "...Paka...please...."
Paka steps up onto the ledge of the rooftop, making it rather obvious he was intending to jump off. However, whether he was planning to jump straight down or across the gap is rather unclear.
Bode stiffens, swallowing, "...P-Paka...don't..." He slowly takes a step forward, holding out a hand, his eyes locked on the other boy, "..don't.."
Paka looks at him, raising an eyebrow. He is uncertain about the boy's concern.
Bode frowns, shaking his head a bit, "...just come here...I don't want you to..." he trails off.
Paka takes a step down the ledge, further away from Bode, but no closer to falling. He moves along it with ease, without the worry of falling.
Bode glances down at the edge for a second before looking back to Paka. He still keeps his hand outstretched, "...please..."
Paka smirks a bit as he finally figures out why Bode is so worried. He laughs suddenly, "You think I'd commit suicide over you? Don't flatter yourself..."
Bode frowns a bit more, "...I don't know what to think anymore, Paka... I shouldn't give myself that much credit, you're right...I don't deserve it..." His hand falls back to his side.
Paka crosses his arms, "You won't get any pity from me, Bode."
"...I don't want any..I just want you to stop being mad at me..."
Paka makes a face, suddenly leaping from the ledge and landing neatly upon the other side. Easy. He looks at Bode over his shoulder, "You can make other friends. Don't bother with me, girlie."
Bode watches him and flinches a bit at the name, "...no I can't...I can't make any friends...."
Paka scowls, "Yeah right."
"..you think I can? Then why on earth was I all alone when I met you? Because I can't make friends, and I don't want them!"
Paka sighs, "then if you don't want them why are you complaining?!"
Bode frowns, "...I don't want normal friends...I want you here to help me..."
Paka jams his hands into his pockets, "Trust me. You aren't missing much. And you don't need my help."
"..yes I do..and I need some kind of companionship...because I'm so confused, I know that much...but..no one else would even put up with me, I'm sure..I..."
Bode trails off, shaking his head, "...I can't even figure out what I'm trying to say, right now..please, Paka..."
The younger boy scowls, glancing about, "You don't need my help," he says again.
Bode watches him, "What makes you say that? You don't know..."
Paka scowls, "Because I know I have no help to offer."
"You could be there for me, when things get screwed up...try and help me not be so jumbled..."
Paka sighs, "Jeeze...ya big baby..."
Bode watches him, "...please, Paka..."
Paka sighs, strutting a few feet down the other roof so as to look at Bode. "...what do you want from me.."
Bode watches him, "...not to be mad at me..."'
Paka sighs, "You deserve it."
Bode bites his lip, "...why?"
"Because you expect me to understand when you don't understand yourself...that ain't fair, you know."
Bode remains silent for a long time, merely watching the other boy.
Paka continues walking along the rooftop, waiting for a response.
Bode, finally, sighs quietly, "..Paka, I'm really sorry...please don't be mad at me, any more...if you tell me how, I'll make it up to you.."
Paka leaps down to the lower section of the roof, shrugging, "You can't make it up to me."
Bode keeps his eyes on him, "...are you sure? I'll do anything.."
"I'll let you off the hook. But there's nothing you can do to make me feel any better."
Bode bites his lip, "...did I really hurt your feelings..? Or what...?"
"Just drop it," the boy snaps.
Bode frowns, beginning to move down his own section of roofs to get to the ground.
Paka leaps off the first roof, landing neatly.
Bode makes his way down silently, a bit awkward but not causing himself any harm, at least.
Paka looks over at Bode, waiting.
Bode gets to the ground, glancing to Paka and moving over to him.
Paka steps back, making a face, "...what now?"
Bode frowns a bit as he steps back, giving a small shrug. After a moment of hesitation, he moves forward and picks Paka up in a hug, "...I'm sorry I was being mean...and thank you for giving me another chance, Paka..."
Paka yelps, startled as he is lifted. "H-Hey! Watch it!"
Bode laughs a bit, hugging him for a moment more before leaning down and gently setting him down on the ground, "Sorry..."
Paka dusts himself off, glaring at Bode, though the expression is soft. "I'm not a pet, ya know. You can't just pick me up whenever you want."
Bode hms a bit, "Oh, I can't? But it's so easy..and you can't stop me."
Paka sticks out his tongue, "I'll bite you if you do."
Bode smiles, "You wouldn't do that..."
Paka bares his small canines, "Try me."
Bode kneels, reaching out a hand to poke Paka's nose, "Alright, alright..."
Paka makes a noise, "Knock it off."
Bode gives a small nod, standing and not wanting to push his luck, "..thanks, though."
Paka sighs, "Stop thanking me. It'll ruin my reputation."
Bode smiles, "Whatever you say.."
Paka scowls, "Don't patronize me."
Bode holds up his hands, nodding, "Alright...sorry..."
Paka nods, "You should be.."
"And I am.."
Paka smirks, "Good."
Bode gives a quiet sigh, glancing off and hoping in the future he wouldn't seem to be quick to agitate...
Paka looks around, sighing. He crosses his arms.
