Bode and Paka
Bode walks quietly, her head down, her backpack hanging rather limply on her back.
Paka sits on the stairs of the school, his ample backpack in his lap. He adorns headphones and loud music blares in his ears and he bobs his head in time with the music.
Bode glances up, hearing the faint sound of music. She frowns slightly, but says nothing, watching him as she walks.
Paka glances up from under his messy locks, watching the girl with a faint curiosity. His clothing is messy and generally odd, bearing many logos and brands. He brushes a black lock away from his face.
Bode continues to watch Paka, after a moment approaching him. "...are you sure that should be so loud?"
Paka moves one headphone away from his ear, watching Bode. "Why shouldn't be?"
Bode mms quietly, brushing back a lock of her hair, "..well..it's not good for your ears..."
Paka smirks, shrugging, "Yeah so?"
Bode blinks, not expecting that, "...you should take better care of yourself..."
Paka turns off the CD player, moving the headphones down to hang about his neck. "It doesn't matter."
Bode nods a bit, "...yes it does. If you don't take care of yourself...you won't be healthy when you're older..and..."
Paka glances upward, "Why should I worry about that now?"
Bode gives a quiet sigh, shaking her head, "..nevermind..."
Paka hops up from his seat, his loose pants slipping about his hips, "Jeeze, don't get so defensive."
Bode shakes her head, turning to leave, "I'm not..I guess I was just wasting my breath..."
Paka turns, following her. He'd never been one to take a hint, "Nah. Just tryin' to be nice, ne?" He slips his hand into his pockets, "That just doesn't work with kids like me."
Bode glances over her shoulder at Paka, "...what're you doing...?"
Paka shrugs, "What're you doing?"
Bode blinks, "..walking...but.."
Paka nods, "Exactly. So am I."
Bode shakes her head, "..but why are you following me?"
Paka falls into step with her, his black boots jingling due to a few things dangling off them, "Who's to say that you're not following me?"
Bode stops abruptly, "I started walking before you did."
Paka stops as well, hiding his smile, "Did you now? Do you have proof of this fact, ma'm or is it hear-say?"
Bode points, "There! You just stopped after I stopped!! You're following me!"
Paka shakes his head, "No. You stopped after I did."
Bode shakes her head, "No! I did not!"
Paka reaches up, poking Bode's forehead, "Did so."
Bode makes a funny little indignant face, spinning on her heel to leave.
Paka follows after her, smiling sheepishly, "C'mon! Don't you have a sense of humor?"
Bode crosses her arms, "Yes, I do.."
Paka grins, "So why are you being so...moody? PMS? Or is it some other girl thing I don't understand?"
Bode makes a quiet sound, "No!! Don't even talk about things you don't understand! And who said I'm being moody? How do you know I don't always act like this? And plus..you're really..annoying.."
Paka smirks, ruffling her hair, "Annoyance, as so many things, is in the eye of the beholder."
Bode immediately begins smoothing her hair, "Why don't you go away?"
Paka shifts again, jamming both hands quickly into his pockets, "Cause I'm desperate for company?"
Bode gives a quiet sigh, "And why does your company have to be me? Don't you have friends to go talk to?"
Paka pauses for a moment, before replying, "Not really. Where I come from you have associates. Not friends."
Bode pushes back some of her hair, "...oh?"
Paka nods, forcing a few loose strands to fall into his eyes. He makes no move to fix them. "That's right. You know, guys who won't squeal on you, if you don't squeal on them."
Bode frowns slightly, after a moment shaking her head, "...you should get friends.." She turns, preparing to leave.
Paka watches her, turning a bit to allow his eyes to follow her. "You make it sound easy."
Bode gives a half shrug, "I know it's not easy. I don't really have any friends."
Paka hrms, "You seem like you would." He shrugs as well.
Bode looks at him, giving a small smile, "..I'm uncomfortable around people...so I don't try all that hard to get any friends..."
Paka shrugs again, his thin shoulders peaking upward, "Ah...most people are overrated."
Bode mms quietly, "...I..suppose..."
Paka nods, "Course they are. But what can you expect, they build themselves up so much...damn narcissists."
Bode blinks, watching him silently for quite a while, unsure of what to say to that.
Paka smiles a bit, leaning down and giving her a quick little kiss on the cheek, "But I like you."
Bode blinks once again, this time turning rather red. She lifts a finger, opening her mouth to say something. "Ah..." is all that comes out.
Paka laughs, offering her the reassuring words, "Don't worry 'bout affections, girly, I'm gay."
Bode mms, looking disappointed for a moment before waving a hand at him. "..I know..it's..obvious. Very obvious. Mm hm..obvious."
Paka blinks, caught a bit off guard. He offers her a scowl, "Hey...what do you mean by that?"
Bode shrugs a bit, turning to leave, "..nothing..."
Paka follows after her, removing one hand from his pocket to seize her shoulder, "I mean it!"
Bode scowls slightly, "Nothing, really. I was just talking. Trying to get something out of my mouth so I wouldn't stand there looking stupid."
After slipping his other hand from his pocket, he crosses his arms over his chest, "Still kind of a rude thing to say."
Bode glances off, "..I know..I'm sorry, alright? I need to get going..."
"Why?"
"...because."
"Because you're uncomfortable."
Bode shakes her head, "No. It's not that..."
Paka hrphms, "What is it then? Don't want to be seen with a worthless shite like me? Or is it because I'm gay and you think it's sick? Or cause I gave you a kiss on the cheek? What?"
Bode crosses her arms, "...you wouldn't understand...though I couldn't care
less whether you were gay or not..."
"Try me."
Bode sighs, trying to walk off once again, "I don't want to."
Paka snorts in slight agitation, watching her. Not like it mattered...just another dumb girl.
Bode gives another quiet sigh, "...sorry to have taken up your time. Bye."
Paka turns, quickly jumping up onto a tall metal fence with surprising ease. He begins to depart, walking easily across the top of the fence.
Bode glances back, suddenly yelling, "It was that stupid kiss!" She turns back around, continuing to walk away, mentally blinking at his way of departure.
Paka smirks dryly to himself. Of course. He walks easily atop the fence hardly feeling the sharp metal through his sneakers.
