X lets the thin slip of paper fall from his hand to the ground, watching it flutter silently with a dull gaze.
"...'The only rose without a thorn is friendship'....what a lie.." He sighs quietly, glancing upward for a long while, his eyes half-lidded. Zero...that was a friendship with more thorns than could be counted. He loved him..but the other Hunter didn't love him back. It had been rocky, and hard to find middle ground. They had, but X knew quite well it felt as odd and uncomfortable for Zero as it did for him, even if they did act normal.
"...darn it, Zero...why do you have to be like that? So..." He stops, hands covering his eyes gently. He hears a quiet voice behind him, soft and feminine.
"...do you still love him...? Zero, that is..?" X feels a small blush rise on his cheeks as he gives a firm nod. Even though he knew it, even though he had admitted it time and time again.. it still made him blush. Even thinking of the other reploid occasionally caused his face to redden. "..maybe...he loves you to. Have you ever thought of that?" The voice suddened sounds awkward and unsure.
X pauses, "...I-I..don't see how he could.. He said he wanted to be friends. And that was all.." He almost feels the other behind him smile. He tries to turn around, to see who it is, but is stopped by the hands about his eyes, which turn him back.
"..just know...that he does. Zero loves you. He just can't say it." His eyes are released from the darkness, so he twists his head quickly back to try and see who had told him this.. which kind female reploid knew this and could tell him this. He sees nothing, the person having already disappeared into the shadows.
"...could he...really love me?"
Down the hallway, Zero stands, fixing his voice box to set it back on its normal tones. The higher voice didn't suit him, but it had been perfect for what he had felt he needed to do. He glances down the hallway, to where X sits on the ground, smiling faintly before turning and disappearing.
