† The Death of Viror †

The forest was lush, leaves of every color periodically dropped from the trees to dance their way to the cold, unkind ground. Occasionally they'd be blown astray by a faint winter breeze, causing them to twirl and twist even more than usual. The soil was blanketed with them. The upper branches hid the sky, only allowing thin streamers of light past. A thin, rather small cat stood in the middle of all of this, pale blue eyes glancing up into one of the ribbons of light. He wasn't wearing what he normally did..instead he merely adorned a long, thick sweater, much too big for him, and a pair of baggy pants that almost touched the ground.

"...I don't like this." His voice was soft.

He gingerly turned, about to head back. But he could go no further, for a monster was in his pathway to safety. A heafty beast...a demon dog, eyes glowing red, disgusting teeth sharp, dripping in saliva. Pitch black like death.

"...I'm supposed to protect something...but..I've forgotten..." A staff appeared in his hands, to ward of the beast. He knew it would do no good. But he tried. A hard hit, a blast of magick, a slash.

He was down, the beast on him, pinning him. He screamed. "Tangaloor! Where are you?! Brother!" He turned his fearful eyes, and then focused them on another cat. Choking, he tried to scramble away, "Grizraz...praise mother..h-help..help me!" All he could feel was the hound's hot breath. The other cat grinned, a wicked smile. "...devour him. Good bye, Viror."

Pale eyes grew dim.

The small cat woke up without a sound, pale eyes dim.
