Ramayan
and MahaBharat
This
is probably the first ever attempt in the history of Vedic religion that
some one has tried to elaborate the real meaning of the Great Vedic scriptures.
It has been hammered and cultivated in our mind right form the childhood
that Ramayan and MahaBharat is not only an epic but it is an factual
historical account of the Ayodhya and Hastinapur . Now it is really a
matter of belief for everybody as far as daily mundane religious life
of normal Indian is concerned. We have wittnessed one of the greatest
ethnical disturbunces in the very name of Rama. The whole argument is
that of Ramayana is a factual Historical account of RaghuVansh.
Now
it is to be seen from the point of view of the History and we end up with
belief and suppositions. Logic should have a convincing base.We belive
that, Ramayan did happen and since we are in majority it must be true,
is not the correct way of arguing. For last so many centuries people have
strong belief hence it can not be questioned or denied is another argument
usually put up by belivers. For centuries if some thing is considered
as reality then it can at most be considered as tradition of beliving.
But at any stage if it is proved otherwise with strong logical proof and
experimental results then it must be accepted as false belief. Bible says
that sun moves around earth. When first time it was denied by coprnicus
he was rejected. But rejection by the masses did not change the truth.
Tody we know and belive that people at that time were wrong with copernicus.
The
reliabilty of any document is established
by three tests:
- Bibliographical
Evidence test
- Internal
Evidence test
- External
Evidence test
We
are concerned more about Internal Analysis, since we belive that this
is the only thing we can do best with the solid logic and reasoning.
History and Archaeology can always be intriguing if taken in the
sentimental fashion.
So
know lets see analysis of the Great Epic Ramayana and MahaBharat.
Introduction
We
begin with the Author of the epic-Maharishi Valmiki. As the name suggest
Valmiki is consedered as Maha-Rishi. A great philosopher and acheiver
in YogAdtdhytmya. Naturally it can be asked why a Maharishi would write
a history? To write an account of some king and his dynasty one need
not be of the philosophical background. Any moderatly educated would
have done it. Why a Maharishi? The answer is clear- there must be more
than what is obvious. We belive that Maharishi Valmiki has given best
of his thoughts in the best of poetic way. Ramayana is the journy
of the Yogi in is pursuits of the Brahma through Yog. Aayan
means Journey and Ram means Aanand.
It is the journey of his Yogic sadhana to understand the Brahma. It
is the analogical discreptions of the Yogic expirences.
Buddhas
effect
It
is more or less belived that the period of Ramayana writting and Buddha
is almost same.Rather it is belived that Buddha cult was there long
before Ramayan was written. There is clear reference of this in the very
begining of BalKand of Ramayan.

The Budhha cult (Samprayadya) was rising and people were getting more
and more attracted towards it. The Vedic Sanskruti was in danger since
Buddha preached all anti-veda postulates. People were rejecting importance
and spiritual aspect of the Vedas. Two Yogis did everything to save
Vedic culture and traditions: First of them was Maharishi Valmiki
and next one was Ved Vyas. Maharishi wrote Ramayana
and YogVashihstha where as Ved Vyas made more detailed effort with Puranas,MahaBharat
and above all GITA. It must have been felt by these Yogis that the best
way to describe the real Vedic culture and tradition is in the language
of the masses and it should be as analogical as possible rather than
mere descrptions. Buddha preached everything in the language of masses
and everything that would appeal to their hearts and mind. Buddha rejected
Vedas and hence source of knowledge itself. He suggested that the knowledge
should not be the domain of few educated ones only. This attracted many
people from every corner of the society not only in India but entire
world. Belivers of Vedas and hence Maharishi had to accept the impact
of Buddha in the Indain psyche. That is why they narrated their Yogic
expeirences in the form of lucid stories with real cultural and social
structure intermingled with in the stories. This has been done to a
such a clinical precision that it is difficult even today to separate
the cultural & traditional part and Vedik Philosophical part from these
stories. This is rather first attempt after these Epics have been written.
Main Characters: Ram and Krishna
It
can be seen that Maharishi was first to make such an attempt and hence
the Character of Rama was not made as Sampoorna but it was shown as
Maryada Purshootaam whereas Ved Vyas did make Krishna Sampoorna; an
Yogeshwar. We can see some shortcomings in the character of Ram where
as Krishna was shown as master of all the fields known at that time.
When it was found to be not sufficient to attract the masses Gita was
saparatly introduced in the Mahabharat. That too did not have strong
effect. Yes, Ramayana,Mahabharat, and Gita did not have that effect at
that time when written. Today we belive more in them than the people
of that time for whom basically it was written. Maharishi ended this
astronomical work by his one of the master piece ever written "YogVashistha".
It is belived that many few understand the aspect of YogVashihta. It
is the ultimate source of YogScience and Yoganubhitis.
We
belive that by reading this, that has been written under the guidence
of YogScientist Yogeshwar Manohar Harkare, everyone will appriciate
the clair intelligence of the Vedik rishish and the YogSciences as well.
It would be important here to mention that the entire effort
here is to provide true Vedik knowledge and not to undermine any Philosophical
school or Religion. We simply want to make everyone experience the joy
of YogVishwa and Vedic culture.
