The additional Windows 3.1 to NT to 2000 were not too bad, despite minor trouble. In Windows 2000, the user can always log out to reset the Windows to clear any trouble. This author did find that, for the Internet Explorer 5.0 (1995-1999), the dialog box of "Find" menu item under "Edit" menu may become invalid for a large file with Chinese character code. In May of year 2024, this author did do significant test on Internet Explorer 6.0 to find that this "Find" menu item is OK, but the Chinese character radical on the left side of "hong2 (red), luu4 (green), jiu1 (redress), ji2 (grade), zhi3 (paper), jing1 (Jingdom [kingdom]), niu3yue2 (New York)" etc. is subject to a wrong change. All Windows Web Browser software would ignore extra space in text, this is a bad idea, e.g. the text : 1, 2, 3, would show up as : 1, 2, 3.
The capital expansion (pain) of Windows and other commercial software size, including the programming language software, did lead to the (pollution and) waste of computer instrument or hardware and application program. A web browser such as internet 5 and netscape browser at year 2000 does support the Java One 1.1 to 1.3 applet, because Java is the only available computer programming language (not script) for the world wide web. But, Windows 7 IE with Java 7 does fail to show Java 1.1 to 1.3 applet in part or in full, although it does show applet JAR file on a web host server. The Hotjava 3 browser (1995-1999) does support Java One 1.1 applet, but not Java 2 1.3 applet, it can open webpage on local computer but not webpage on the world wide web. Probably it is not the Hotjava 3 browser that cannot access the world wide web, but it is the latter that does not allow old browser to access any web host server. In general, the computer operating system, world wide web, electronic mail service site, such as www.yahoo.com, www.hotmail.com, etc., should strive to support old software, such as DOS programming language and Hotjava 3 browser of Sun Microstation, in order to keep old useful intellectual property or resource.
Sometime after the termination of Sun Microsystem corporation in year 2010, an web browser does automatically come with a Java VM which does require an extra Java certificate to run a Java applet. This does destruct the original aim for a Java program to run on a web browser or virtual machine that is on many a different computer operating system or platform. IE5 has a good feature to save a HTML file into a nominal Chinese character HZ code, which is actually a combination of HZ code (2 alpha-numeric code) and HTML unicode (5 digit code) (ref. META content="text/html; charset=hz-gb-2312" http-equiv=Content-Type). This does allow one to keep the traditional character that did not simplify in HZ code to be separate from the traditional character, which was subject to simplification, in HTML unicode (5 digit code). But, if this HTML file does contain secret binary code, then under Windows 2000, when it is subject to "Save" in Notepad, it is automatically corrupt to be invalid for "text/html; charset=hz-gb-2312". However, a Wordpad "Save" does eliminate this secret code to make it OK for Notepad to "Save". In Windows 2000 (or later version), the notepad does show all character as black square (or visible character) to hide the unique character code (ref. this author does copy big5 code from NJSTAR v4.33 and paste it as unique code in a TextArea of Java One 1.1 to 1.3 program, and then copy this visble big5 code to paste it as unique code in notepad). The software provider should correct positively this mistaken error to hide character code. Here, it is convenient to mention that NJSTAR v4.33 does export to big5 code file. But its export to HZ code file for simplified character does add a symbol "~" to each end of line, which does confuse the HZ code of the form "����" and cause extraneous symbol in NJwin NJStar CJK viewer . This author does think that NJStar should avoid to add the line end "~" (ref. this author has a Microsoft Visual C6 program to automatically drop the symbol "~" at the end of each line of an HZ text file).
In about year 2023, one can no longer find the Internet Explorer 5 to download, which was a small browser software to display both Chinese character and Java applet (a few MB). Internet Explorer 6 is a good replacement but it does require about 70MB disk space, and it will only install on the computer drive with the specific Windows version such as D:. The sudden increase of storage of Internet Explorer 6 over version 5 is likely due to more alphabet language support. Microsoft corp. should make the free of charge IE5 software available on the world wide web. Windows Internet Explorer 5 etc. software does not have a certain file folder for a user to carry out and use it on another computer. One cannot install Internet Explorer 5 etc. software on a USB flash drive to carry it to a different computer. In year 2023 to 2024 this author does find that the same Internet Explorer start up file, IEXPLORE.EXE, does start the existing Internet Explorer 5 on Windows 2000, and the new Internet Explorer 6 on Windows 98. This is a confusing phenomenon. In year 2025, this author does find out that Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 10 does not correctly save as an HTML page with Chinese language character into an HTML file with Chinese language character HZ code. The error is that the program does automatically add a hyperlink to all paragraph of the HTML file (ref. date 2026-01-15 note, by the end of year 2025, Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 did likely correct positively this error on the common computer via the world wide web). Besides, Internet Explorer 11 "Find (on this page)" function is not as good as Internet Explorer 6 in that it does always start to find a word or sentence from the very beginning of the file, but not from anywhere the user does highlight a word with the mouse pointer. In year 2025 July, this author did find another bug in Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 10, in comparison to Internet Explorer 6 on Windows 2000. The detail is as follows: A number of "\" in Chinese language character HZ code in a paragraph did cause the Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 10 on a HP computer to display completely false character; but, the Internet Explorer 6 on Windows 2000 does show the HZ code as the correct Chinese character. Besides, unicode HTML numeric code file does show the correct Chinese character in both Internet Explorer 6 and 11. This author would also like to mention that all version of Internet Explorer does erroneously call a file with both HZ code and HTML unicode of Chinese character as "Chinese simplified HZ" type. On date 2025-11-12 to 14, this author does find that although HZ code does denote the simplidied character scheme, there is a rare case for Hou4 where there are both the traditional character ~ {aa~} (後) and the simplified character ~ {:s~} (后); and there is another rare case for Yu2 where there are both the traditional character ~ {l6~} (於) and the simplified character ~ {SZ~} (于).
In year 2024, this author did work with 16 pixel Chinese language character in .bmp and .gif format. One may save a .gif file on .HTML page into a .bmp file, which is 256 color. Microsoft paint software can save .bmp file as monochrome, 16 color or 256 color. Back in year 2015, this author did strive to write a Microsoft C program to decode a .bmp file into an ASCII text file, but it did only work for a .bmp file of monochrome, not for 16 color and 256 color. This is a case to show that it is necessary for any commercial software to provide a menu item or command to save the secret proprietary binary file, such as .bmp, back into ASCII file (ref. Chinese language character .bmp file for 16 pixel does lose many stroke for many a character with more stroke, more pixel per character is sometimes necessary; Autodesk Inc. AutoCAD software can save a binary .dwg file into an ASCII .dxf file).
Individual or company should also enable new computer with both DOS and Windows operating system. Windows 98 with DOS and Windows 2000 or NT with DOS prompt on the same computer should be the standard. Since Windows NT or 2000, the Windows logon password can cause the loss of all work on the computer if the user does lose his or her password, or if the computer is subject to loss or theft. The loss of the password may cause the computer hardware to become waste. The Windows logon password does damage the "common" meaning of a computer. Commercial software installation key may also cause the loss of this software. Computer hardware and software should also overcome phenomenon that "Greedy pollution and waste are the most big crime". For example, to discontinue software and hardware support to make a computer obsolete in a few year, or to code all datum (data) into binary or ASCII file with complex hidden method in order to hide it from the people rightist-citizen and to confuse and slow down the computer is "Greedy pollution and waste are the most big crime".

DOS Turbo C\C++ 3.0 was a peak of computer programming language software, which was a part of the science and technology modernization peak at around year 1991 (ref. year 1993 Ph.D. thesis by Yi XiaoPing). (ii) It does require all file .C extension to change into .CPP for a multiple file project of Turbo C.
(iii) The main program TC.exe does work well on full screen in Windows 98 explorer and Windows 2000 Windows Explorer, and it does work more smoothly in the former than the latter (ref. in the latter, TC.exe may not recognize change in .h file, such as a #define constant value change). Furthermore, on Windows 98, one can use the Alt+enter key combination to switch between Turbo C\C++ 3.0 and the Windows Explorer which has a good search function. It does not start in Windows 98 DOS. It is a small window without mouse support in Windows 2000 command prompt.
(iv) All global variable and constant must be unique with regard to letter captal and small case, e.g. constant ForeGrColor, variable "ForeGrColor" and "foregrcolor" would confuse the computer.
(v) There is no example on programming with mouse point and cursor (on or off) input (ref. msread function). The debug program become invalid for program with mouse code in it (ref. this may be the reason why Microsoft Visual C/C++ does not promote or support programming for Windows, it does support AutoCAD for Windows Development System C\ADS\ARX).
(vi) It does enable old computer such as 286, 386, Pentium CPU computer with CGA and VGA monitor, to be useful for computer science study and research. This will enable programming talent with a traditional language, science, mathematics, etc. training, as well as a lot of existing DOS software.
(vii) There should be a function to get the monitor screen dimension, in order to use the screen as a page like a paper page of writing and drawing, on which one can measure length and angle with a ruler (or mouse). "one two three, A B C" standard monitor screen size for computer would be enough to assist world common communication. It is ideal for the screen to have the same pixel number to length and pixel number to width ratio. If the screen is too large or too small with respect to two eye, then the eye sight is more likely to suffer from damage of the screen light. Notice the computer screen high constrast color scheme may help reduce the burden of the eye.
(viii) The existing DOS 8 digit file name plus 3 digit extension should gain increase to that of Microsoft Windows. Upgrade of the graphics driver program would enable more than VGA pixel 639 x 479 (ie. 640 x 480).
(viv) A long time ago, this author did use Microsoft Excel spreadsheet and Java One program to compute the circumference constant PI with the polygon approximation method (ref. in Anno Domini Era year 265, Liu Hui did calculate "PI=3.1416", and in year 480 Zu ChongZhi did calculate "PI=3.14159"). In year 2024, this author did use Microsoft VC6 program to compute the circumference constant PI with the same polygon approximation method. It was a surprise to find that VC6 cannot compute this PI value for a polygon of 48 side at the minimum (ref. in C language the number of significant digit for a double precision variable is not clear; the number of significant digit for a long double variable of Microsoft VC6 is not clear). Microsoft VC6 and Turbo C2.1 to 3.0 and Quick C2.5 program did not succeed. Quick C2.5 program did give an error message to indicate "sqrt: DOMAIN error". Hence, C\C++ programming language does need immediate amelioration (ref. C program was successful with the Taylor - McLaurin series expansion method).
DOS programming language software should gain positive correction and improvement with regard to computer hardware improvement or change, such as the huge increase of memory and screen size. It is reasonable to think that the Windows DOS operating system can make use of the the extra hard disk space and RAM memory, if one could upgrade the past DOS programming language software, such as Turbo C/C++ and Microsoft Quick C, and their application software to run in Windows DOS. This author cannot prove whether or not the Windows DOS prompt does use all the hard disk space and RAM memory. It will also be much more efficient to keep, learn and teach the science technique technology etc. modernization by the end of the 20th century (ref. including old computer; Windows OS and program encourage more management and cooperation). With such a little addition, it will allow DOS Turbo C\C++ 3.0 etc. programming software to accomplish "one two three A B C", which would symbolize "justice rights rightist-citizen with 8 character to participate" in Chinese language character (ref. To the knowledge of this author, in year 1989, Queen's University of Canada did use the DOS program EXAMINE 2D DOS from University of Toronto civil engineering department to teach Geomechanics Mine Design. EXAMINE 2D DOS did use a screen capture program software to print the screen picture (ref. the program code was likely in Turbo C programming language). In about year 1991, this author did buy the NJStar 3.1 DOS Chinese language character program software from Australia (ref. the program code was likely in Microsoft C or Quick C programming language). It did export .PCX picture file page by page, and print to paper printer, with a computer memory restriction of about 15 page. DOS program software upgrade, with the expansion of computer memory, would have been enough to resume (inherit and carry forward) the science technique technology modernization.
Windows program with keyboard and mouse (or finger touch or voice input) user control (user interface) may mean to hint the sense or conscience of man (human being) or earth. Java one 1.1 to 1.3 was more than enough to learn about Windows programming. Sun Microstation and the later Oracle company etc. should ensure freedom to run Java applet on the World Wide Web computer website, but discard the later restriction on Java applet with what they call "Java (applet) certificate". Digital camera does use .JPEG or .JPG, but its file size is often too big to cause computer program software to seem to freeze (ref. Microsoft paint, Kodak imaging for Windows software, on Windows 2000). The file explorer of Windows 10 does not allow one to create a new text document with any user extension, such as, .HTML or .HTM. This is a serious mistaken error to break the Windows tradition. On 2025-08-06, this author did find that the Notepad on Windows 10 does show an extra blank line for each line of .HTML file. The same .HTML file will show up with the extra blank line in the Notepad of Windows 2000.
At the end of year 2023, this author did find out that on Windows 10 (hp Prodesk computer), Java 2 jdk1.3.1_03 java.exe (main) or appletviewer.exe did run a java program with a major error in the hour of the day and time (four hour ahead of the computer day and time). This was due to the computer error to run the Java class: GregorianCalendar() or GregorianCalendar(TimeZone.getDefault()) (ref. this class is correct on Windows 98 and 2000 software of Compaq Presario computer with Intel Pentium CPU). There is no replacement function for correction. This would disable a time sensitive application software program for computer Windows 10 (ref. It is worthwhile to mention that Java 2 can accomplish the batch compile, javac *.java, including Java One and Java 2 source code; but Java One can only accomplish a part of it, such as, javac abc*.java, otherwise there would be an "OutOfMemoryError". Of course, Java One cannot compile all Java 2 source code.

The user control interface is OK. AutoCAD R12 DOS does seem to begin to work in Windows 98 DOS. If this will prove to be the case, then, AutoCAD R12 DOS with Autolisp programming language would be a feasible software or application on the DOS prompt of Windows 95, 98, etc. operating system. This author did have enough experience with AutoCAD R12 DOS and autolisp application programming from year 1995 to 2000. Till the present time in February of year 2025, this author never did compile any AutoCAD DOS C\ADS\EXP application program (ref. in year 1987 to 1999, in the Golden giant school mines mineral site in Ontario province, this author did see the "autovent" C\ADS\EXP program on AutoCAD R12 DOS). Autodesk AutoCAD R12 for DOS should gain a little improvement to work under Microsoft Windows 95 to 2000 DOS in order to use the computer hardware for Windows 95 to 2000 (ref. Turbo C, Microsift Quick C for DOS should also gain amelioration to use the additional computer hardware for Windows DOS). In retrospect, if Autodesk inc. did perfect the engineering software AutoCAD R12 for DOS prompt, including C\ADS\EXP application, then there would have been a more perfect balance between computer DOS and Windows system {ref. year 1978 United States Congress and President Jimmy Carter "Full Employment and Balanced Growth Act (Humphrey - Hawkins Act)", this title may correct positively as "Full Employment, Balance and Growth Act }.
Back from year 1996 to 1999 at week end, during holiday and vacation, and in the evening (in Manitouwage township, marathon township, Ontario, Canada), as well as for the first three month in year 2000 (in Etobicoke city, Mississaga city, Ontario, Canada), this author did use Microsoft Visual C\C++ 2 to 5 and 6 to perform engineering software development. The author did start with AutoCAD R13 C\ADS EXE program, then mainly work with AutoCAD R14 and C\ADSRX ARX (DLL - Dynamic Link Library) program (ref. daytime contract job as professional engineer in mining rock mechanics). This author did verify that the ARX application program has an advantage to automatically start AutoCAD R14 and debug the code line by line.
Back then, this author did discover a serious problem with C\ADSRX ARX (DLL - Dynamic Link Library) API program in
AutoCAD R14 on Windows 98 and NT, and report to the Autodesk Inc. Support for the Autodesk Development Network
(ref. in year 1999 to 2000, there was a rare case where a couple of three dimensional wire mesh, .dxf, from an
underground CMS survey instrument did cause an endless loop in a demonstration subroutine of both an Autolisp application
program and a C\ADSRX ARX application program to terminate it. The Autolisp program did require reloading in AutoCAD R14
(ref. although AutoCAD R14 did not hang up, it did often slow down). The C\ADSRX ARX WinDebug link program did cause
AutoCAD R14 to terminate, the C\ADSRX ARX WinRelease link program did cause Windows 98 or NT to terminate to
retart the computer (IBM thinpad Pentium notebook and a pentium desk top computer). This problem may be partly due to the
Windows 95 or NT program priority control scheme which would favor EXE program but neglect DLL\ARX program.
This problem could be due to the ARX Dynamic Link Library till the present time ?. This author does know by experience that
there is no computer program in the world that would never crash; In the world, test or examination passage
mark or score is 60%; in statistics science, 95% confidence level is common and acceptable). Back in year 2000, this author
did program an iteration convergence subroutine to stop the iteration upon divergence for the automatic demo routine.
Besides, this author did try to limit the number of iteration to exit an endless loop for the automatic demo routine.
Since the author did depart from Ontario province of Canada to
California state of United States in March of year 2000, he did not know if this did solve the above problem due to
lack of communication across the border
(ref. year 2024 January, for fan hole pattern or parallel hole pattern with a certain toe spacing, this author did
modify and fix the fan iteration number variable to be simply one for good demonstration or advertisement; of course,
the user may set the iteration number variable to any integer value for the increase or decrease of toe spacing).
AutoCAD R14 should also come with the winads.lib file to enable C\ADS EXE program to resume (inherit and carry on) the
AutoCAD R13 C\ADS EXE application program, that is, AutoCAD R14 should continue to support C\ADS EXE under the copyright.
Nevertheless, the quick change of Autodesk inc. from C\ADS EXP\EXE program API for AutoCAD R11 (?) to 13, to C\ADSRX-\C++\ARX
(Dynamic Link Library) program API for AutoCAD R14 etc., was a mistaken error, to begin to abandon the AutoCAD C\ADS API,
especially the C\ADS EXE [-ARX] API (on which the Autolisp is likely dependent). From theory and experience, this author
does conclude that the early C\ADS EXE API is more feasible than the late C\ADSRX-\C++\ARX API (Dynamic Link Library)
(ref. year 1848 Marx and Engles etc. communist manifesto, and year 1867 Marx and Engels "das Kapital - Kritik de politischen
Oekonomie", i.e. "The Capital - politics rule economy criticism").
In the C\ADS EXE API, the program code does start with the keyword "main". In the C\ADS\C++\ARX API, the program code does
start with the long dubious keyword: extern "C" AcRx::AppRetCode acrxEntryPoint. The former was more early than the latter.
Test did indicate that a little sample ARX program in AutoCAD R14 for Release may crash in AutoCAD R14. ARX
(Dynamic Link Library) program
does drift far away from DOS operating system to deviate towards Windows operating system).
However, In a C\ADS EXE program with winads.lib of date 1995-05-31 (from AutoCAD R13), the function, ads_tblnext("LAYER",0),
did always return the 0 layer and never reach NULL at
the end to cause endless loop, which does disable C\ADS EXE program in AutoCAD R14. This is not acceptable. In AutoCAD R14,
all function name, ads_*, should support the C\ADS EXE program without failure. The file Acad.lib 3MB of 1998-04-22 for the
C\ADS\C++\ARX absolutely does not replace winads.lib 160KB of 1995-05-31 to rebuild a C\ADS EXE program. In order for
AutoCAD R14 to further support the C\ADS EXE program as for AutoCAD R13, there should be a working winads.lib
file for AutoCAD R14, which is necessary to maintain AutoCAD R12 for DOS and AutoCAD R13 for Windows standard,
and to observe and conform to the copyright notice and law rule. This author can help
this company assure the quality of C\ADS EXE program with a winads.lib file, as well as AutoCAD for mining and mineral
extraction application.
In year 2023, this author did verify that Windows AutoCAD R13 does come with winads.lib to support C\ADS EXE program,
but this winads.lib does not work normally with AutoCAD R14. Further test does verify that both Microsoft VC2 and VC5 can
build such .exe program for AutoCAD R13 on Windows 98, with relatively easy change in four step (ref. AutoCAD software is
expensive, to make a computer program to run in AutoCAD which does run in Windows is a difficult task,
one must take caution not to get into serial connection trouble; the following is just the experience of the author:
autocad_ads.htm).
Furthermore, AutoCAD R13 type of menu file will load up in
AutoCAD R14, but, AutoCAD R14 type of menu file with icon may not load up in AutoCAD R13. This does show a little
amelioration of AutoCAD R14 as the second Windows version of AutoCAD. Both AutoCAD R13 and R14 will only load user program
.mnu file and toobar icon file from the AutoCAD SUPPORT folder, and they will not load the toobar icon file from any
other folder. In a menu file for AutoCAD R13, function "xload" and "arxload" load program name, but can not tolerate
program path. AutoCAD R14 command C:menuload does load a menu file normally, but, the same command in an C\ADS\ARX program
does accomplish it successfully, but show a false error message to confuse the user: "error: extra right paren *Cancel*".
This false message has the risk to disable menu customization.
The command C:appload, in AutoCAD R13, can xunload an C\ADS\EXE program, but the same command cannot xunload an ADS\EXE
program in AutoCAD R14. This may be an indication that AutoCAD R14 does not support C\ADS\EXE program.
By 2023-01-12, this author did test C\ADS EXE program in AutoCAD R13, and think that C\ADS EXE does work in
Windows AutoCAD R13, except that one must be cautious with, and to avoid, the extraneous Dynamic Data
Exchange for Windows, such as data exchange with Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet, or external database (datum list)
connection (outside AutoCAD). The XYZT RockCAID - RocCAD of this author did use a unique method of AutoCAD to set and
change the parameter value in an ASCII configuration file (ref. .mdd and .mdr file, command C:CHANGEMDD, READMDD,
C:CHANGEMDR, C:READMDR).
It is important to press on ESC key to avoid program crash, but the key combination
"ctrl+C" or "ctrl+break" does likely terminate the program and AutoCAD). This author did prove that justice rights and
declaration of independence are important for computer program or literary work (ref. Microsoft DOS program).
Furthermore, this author would like to have an opportunity to use XYZT RockCAID - RocCAD C\ADS\EXE for AutoCAD R13 and R14,
instead of ARX for AutoCAD R14, e.g., to slice the same CMS survey .DWG file that did cause the above trouble in
AutoCAD R14 in year 1999 to 2000. Let us remind each other that the computer programming work or software Quality Assurance
\ Control in mining and
mineral extraction is like engineering plan on a senior level, but, it is not a computer game work or job.
Ref. Back in year 1989, this author did join the Canadian Social Insurance Agency (SIN association). From year 1995
to 1997, this author did transfer from postdoctoral research position at Laurentian University to Noranda Technology
Centre - Flairbase Inc. to maintain and upgrade the "AMINE IBLAST" autolisp computer program, at a yearly wage of
CND$40,000, with year 1993 Ph.D. degree from Queen's University \ Laurentian University \ University of Toronto
(ref. code revision comment with date and brand new help file as well as on site customer service by this author).
From year 1997 to 1999 at three school mines mineral site of Golden Giant, Williams Operating Corporation and David Bell,
this author did receive a yearly wage of CND$60,000 to work on three dimensional stress modelling with MAP3D as well as
rock mechanics - ground control.
This author, XiaoPing Yi, did register year 1998 RocCAD computer program book [literary work] copyright at Canadian
intellectual property office with website list. This author did suffer from gang persecution between year 1999 and 2000
in Ontario province. This author did post via Canadian Post Office the year 2000 RocCAD computer copy of
program file, source code, help file, .dwg test file, and CMS survey .dwg or .dxf test file to Flairbase Inc., - Noranda
Technology Centre, in Montreal, Quebec province. XY RocCAD Inc. did license RocCAD program file to three school
mines mineral site, such as Williams Operating Cooperation near Marathon, Ontario province, etc..
This does further prove that Autodesk Inc. should step back to AutoCAD R13 and R14, and provide a working winads.lib for
AutoCAD R14 to resume (inherit and carry on) the AutoCAD R13 version to support ADS \ EXE, Autolisp, ARX application program
that were part of the AutoCAD APPLOAD function or command dialog box
(ref. this will likely assist Autodesk AutoCAD and the industry with AutoCAD as the daily or main design software;
the new ARX API is a little like Microsoft C++ for Windows; "ARX" title is contrary to the name "Marx" and Marxist,
communist etc.).
In January, 2024, test did indicate that acadr13 and r14 do not work simultaneously on Windows 98 or Windows 2000 (NT).
Clearly, acadr13 cannot open .dwg file of acadr14. One example is that, on Windows 2000 (with existing AutoCAD R14),
a day or so after installation of acadr13, AutoCAD r13 C:menuload dialog does fail to load file:
C:\ACADR13\WIN\SAMPLE\SHAFT.MNU, and in AutoCADr14, both AutoCAD r14 and Microsoft Excel hang up. A day or so after the
installation of AutoCAD R13 on Windows 98 (with existing AutoCAD R14), C:appload did go to error message:
can't load ACADAPP.ARX.
In year 2023 this author did test to find that AutoCAD R13 for DOS (which is available from the internet, and will run for
a month of time after installation) on Windows 98 DOS platform did not start properly.
acadr13.bat file is similar to the above acadr12.bat.
The only error message was: "out of environment space", due to the following line in acadr13.bat:
ACADDRV=C:\ACADR13\DOS\DRV. Only a "command" line was up, there was no AutoCAD user control interface.
If one does delete the above line, ACADDRV=C:\ACADR13\DOS\DRV, then the error message is "BASE.dcl: cannot open file".
At the beginning of year 2023, this author did find that, with AutoCAD R13 for Windows, when one did change the file name,
acad.exe, into acad-test.exe, the program did go through a series of false dialog box and message without end. This author
did find out that all C\ADS EXE program, i.e. *.exe file, become invalid at apppload time with name change, such as,
from ABC.exe to ABC-test.exe (ref. sample mountain.exe name change to mountain-test.exe is invalid in acadr13).
On the one hand, this problem was probably due to AutoCAD R13 (ref. it did likely confuse ADS EXE program programmer or
developer and user for a long time); on the other hand, this author did verify that Windows "uninstall" program does not
tolerate the .exe main program name change.
This author did further verify that acad.exe of AutoCAD R14 does tolerate name change to acad-test.exe. But, in both
AutoCAD R13 and AutoCAD R14, C:appload command did not work with the name change of acad.exe. In AutoCAD R14,
C:appload command does tolerate ARX file name change, such as from ABC.arx to ABC-test.arx; it does also tolerate name
change of ADS EXE file, such as mountain.exe to mountain-test.exe. Sample tower.arx does work, but tower.exe does not
work fully in AutoCAD R14.
Generally, ADS EXE program does not work fully in AutoCAD R14.
The Microsoft Visual C v2 to v6 and NJStar v4.33 main program .exe file tolerate name change. But, this author does think
that Windows "uninstall" program will not work after main program name change.
Experience does indicate that the popular commercial software program did reach peak standard at about year 2000. There was
science technique technology modernization by year 2000. Later, the DOS operating system, which was a part of the
modernization, was almost obsolete, Windows OS password protection was up, but overall software quality was down.
AutoCAD R13 and R14 were the peak of AutoCAD. AutoCAD 2000(i) or more late version was not as good as before.
Autodesk Inc. personnel should go back to fix AutoCAD R14 to make it comparable to AutoCAD R13 in the effective
program quality and quantity, as well as support for Autodesk Deveopment System ADS\C\EXE.
2025-07-24 By this time, the experience with new Microsoft Windows 8 to 10 does indicate that, despite clear computer memory
and speed increase, Windows software quality and reliability did not increase but rather decrease. Because AutoCAD R12
for DOS was the peak of all AutoCAD for DOS version, it does support autolisp API program, and AutoCAD R13 for Windows was
the only the Windows version to support ADS\C\EXE API program, AutoCAD R12 for DOS (with support for ADS\C\EXP and
autolisp API program),
which should work under Windows DOS prompt,
and AutoCAD 13 for Windows (with support for both ADS\C\EXE and autolisp API program), are the feasible software solution
for engineering, as well as three domensional science and art, draft and drawing
(ref. it may be easy for Autodesk inc. to provide the winads.lib file to support
AutoCAD R14 ADS\C\EXE API program in order to maintain AutoCAD R13 for Windows standard).
This author did work at Autodesk inc. on a permanent job position since March 8, 2000 (ref. one of his postal electronic
mailbox address in year 2000 was: [email protected], on his Autodesk Inc. business card; The first of his job was to
maintain and develop an intranet website to report test result, the second of his job was to test the 3D function of AutoCAD
2000). This author did immediately join the United States Social Security Administration (SSN association) in March, 2000.
Unfortunately, this author
was subject to arbitrary illegal job termination on August 15th, 2000 by a couple of employee manager of Autodesk Inc..
From about year 1989 to the present time, this author did independently accomplish the
Quality Assurance report in English language, plus separate report in Chinese language character,
for computer program software, including those from Microsoft corporation, AutoCAD R13 Autolisp program upgrade and help file
(ref. Noranda Technology Centre
- Flairbase Inc. in Montreal, Canada), AutoCAD R14 and C\ADS\ARX "XYZT RockCAID - RocCAD", and later for AutoCAD R13
C\ADS\EXE,
etc. (ref. this author did use his XYZT RockCAID - RocCAD MDD and MDRILL C\ADS\ARX and C\ADS\EXE program to test AutoCAD \
AutodeskCAID
R14 and R13 for quality assurance as well as teaching and training, especially
for mining and meaning, rock mechanics and ground control, as well as school mines mineral extraction). This author does
guess that his above Autolisp and C\ADS\ARX programming work did rescue AutoCAD, Autolisp and C\ADS\ARX for mining and
mineral extraction application. Furthermore, XYZT RockCAID - RocCAD for AutoCAD R13 to 14 is good to show or demonstrate
the complete set of design drawing as motion picture, and will be good and fast to test
the relevant function of AutoCAD for quality assurance or test development purpose.
Hence, Autodesk Inc. should retroactively pay this author the wage of the remaining half year of year 2000 since August 15th, in
order to redress the illegal, destructive or criminal "Hire and Fire at Will" permanent job employment practice
(ref. this author was subject to destruction of all bank account and credit card, damage of family relation because the
bank did hire outside agent to extort money from family member of this author and to prevent this author from bankrupcy
application (ref. they did tell spouse that individual bankrupcy is a bad practice), loss of a large travel
suitcase of most of personal property and passport \ permanent resident card etc. witness book [certificate],
loss of a Ford escort 95 car in year 2005 etc., due to illegal job termination by Autodesk Inc.. Such harm and damage to
world international people rightist-citizen
did harm and damage the world. In about year 2000, this author did write a letter to then chief executive and president
Carol Bartz to suggest a mining software development for AutoCAD, she did quickly reply a letter to indicate that there was
no plan for it). This author would like to suggest to Autodesk Inc. to substitute "AutodeskCAID" name brand for "AutoCAD"
(ref. according to year 2000 estimate, this brand name was worth a million dollar). Autodesk inc. etc. company should
help ADN (Autodesk Development Network) member or alumni to sell AutodeskCAID - AutoCAD application program software (ref.
this company should have the expertise to evaluate computer program software in quantity, quality and cost,
and to suggest its price). In general, the purpose of the copyright patent office is to help individual or rightist-citizen
to keep and advertise for science and useful art writing, discovery, invention, and computer program.
Furthermore, Autodesk Inc., Ohio state university school mines unit (institution), etc. should also pay, or help pass to,
this author minimum wage from year 2001 to present time on behalf of the Social
Security Administration of the United States, the Social Insurance Agency of Canadian Provinces, the dispatch unit and
system of China People Republic, the social welfare system of Sweden Jingdom [kingdom], or from the United Nations
peaceful security council
(ref. registration in China, Sweden, Canada, United States, United Nations).
In general, this author would welcome ministration good grain food, ministry minimum wage, prize, grant for good and
excellent open report of study and research as well as teaching work, science and useful art writing, discovery and

Notice that the computer source code is like the thoughtful mind of the author, and the computer program is like the

Flairbase Inc. should return the source code to this author according to the Canadian copyright law rule and practise, as
well as the Canadian Social Insurance (SIN association), in order to overcome negative rights, persecution and slavery
(ref. English phrase "Do not give up."). Notice that the United States copyright law rule and practise
require submission of source code with copyright application, which may mean to accord with the United States Social
Security Administration (SSN association), to help the owner keep a copy to find just in case of loss or robbery

2025-03-08 to 09 comment. The computer C (C++) programming language is a second level programming that is above the
assembly language but below other high level language, such as FORTRAN, AutoCAD autolisp, Java. By design and plan,
a high level language does not directly control machine or machinery.
So far in mankind history, machinery power has done significant and even substantial damage to the dear earth.
Notice that a computer screen, printer or plotter is an instrument under a computer program or software control.
Such a computer system may indicate and remind of the matter and ideology or intelligence of a thing from a tiny plant to
the great earth ball, and to the huge solar system. However, machinery control by computer artificial intelligence will
certainly speed up damage and destruction. A big ADS C EXE program for AutoCAD R13 Windows does speed up engineering design
and draft, especially their copy or reproduction. It is fast to process three domensional drawing from survey instrument etc..
However, computer control is not very stable and reliable, it is not possible to avoid computer crash or freeze.
It is certain to be dangerous, deadly and criminal to use computer power, or to use computer to control machine and
machinery power, to make more and more money, machine and machinery power, or to create more and more
"work of death, desolation and tyranny" (ref. year 1776 United States Declaration of Independence), as well as
"greedy pollution and waste are extremely big criminal act" (ref. Mao ZeDong excerpt), etc..
