I have a small network at home (running Win2000 Server on one &
Win2000 Pro
on three others with a local domain & AD) and recently upgraded
the hard
drive on the server with a fresh install of the operating system.
I went to
great pains to document ALL of the settings on the server before the
upgrade
so that the other machines would re-connect seamlessly when finished,
including adding the other computers back to the domain. Well,
it seems
that I didn't know/think to consider the SIDs & the fact that they
no longer
match in AD. The computers don't "see" each other anymore &
I keep getting
the following event error:
**************************
Event Type: Error
Event Source: NETLOGON
Event Category: None
Event ID: 5513
Date: 7/12/2002
Time: 4:20:19 PM
User: N/A
Computer: DAD
Description:
The computer MOM tried to connect to the server \\DAD using the trust
relationship established by the FAMILY domain. However, the computer
lost
the correct security identifier (SID) when the domain was reconfigured.
Reestablish the trust relationship.
**************************
I have researched this problem & the only information I can find
has to do
with re-establishing trusts between different domains & not a single
word
about re-establishing trusts between the server & workstations
within a
domain to get the SIDs to match. One solution I found is to change
the
workstations back to a workgroup, reboot, then add them back to the
domain,
but then all of the user settings are gone & everything has to
be "re-done"
for each user on the other 3 computers. If my wife didn't work
from home
this wouldn't be such a big deal, but her computer alone has loads
of
software for her work that would all have to be reconfigured - hours
of work
with resetting paths & everything. If there is a simpler
solution........
Can anyone help me??
Many thanks in advance!!
