Subject: Re: Brain Dumps and the real value of MCSE diplomas
Microsoft has gone after braindump sites in the past and de-certified
some
individuals who ran them. However, about all they can do in this
endeavor
is stop the flood... as soon as they take down one, another pops up.
Renewing the questions will work for short periods of time after the
new
questions appear, but the question is, does the effort necessary to
revise
questions overcome the issue of people gaining certification via use
of a
braindump, knowing that such a solution has a relatively short life
before
braindumps start appearing for the new questions?
The problem of testing and certification without a lab practical is
what
ultimately may be the issue. I know increased use of sims in
the Win2K
exams were supposed to help dissuade brain dumps, but then the certification
prep companies started rolling out their own simulators to prepare
people
for the ones on the test.
Makes it hard to stay ahead, you know? Perhaps at some point
Microsoft will
put a premier cert on the table that does require a lab, though I'm
sure the
cost will end up being fairly steep, as with the CCIE.

Microsoft should do something about the Brain Dump sites
or about it's testing scheme. At the very least they
should renew the exams from time to time. If Microsoft
exams are freely available in the Internet for everyone
to download, what is the real value of an MCSE diploma?
I read in a newsgroup that you could find microsoft exams
at a braindump site. I browsed the site and downloaded a
70-227 ISA Server braindump. As I passed this test
recently I can state that the dump is very very close to
the real test. I think someone with minimal or no ISA
Server knoledge would be able to pass the exam with that
brain dump. And it seems the dump has been in the
Internet for more than a year! This means that the
questions are always the same and unskilled people are
getting certified. I did not check every exam but the
site had an incredible list of brain dumps that cover
almost every current Microsoft Exam!

I'm self studying the MCSA, but I did check out one place in South

They are called. Excom Education and they have a website probably
excom.com.au .
There was a special deal "All you can eat" that they offered
me a few
months ago for $17,000. For one year, you can do as many modules
as you
want, MS, Linux, Novell, Lotus, Citrix and maybe Cisco....anyway, it's
a
nice deal.
They look like a good mob, they advertise on the radio.
hope this helps,

Can't really answer why you get 10 logon records, but just as a reminder:
127.0.0.1 is the loopback address - it points to the local machine.
You will
be able to ping it regardless if DNS is working or not. It sounds like
you
may have some services logging on locally by using the loopback address.(?)
"Don Julio"
news:ujOTDht9BHA.1880@tkmsftngp04...
in case this helps I have just noticed that 3 of these events give
a client
address of 127.0.0.1 Needless to say that this is not the address
issued
by DHCP. the other 7 entries have the correct client IP.
I can ping both by
address and PC name so DNS appears to be working OK
thanks

If the files that are corrupted are Windows system files you can use
sfc.exe.

Installing Windows 2000 was a big one when I took it about 3 weeks
ago.
Installing, upgrading to, unattended install, command line for unattended
installs.
Disabling drivers and devices in device manager like when you install
a new
modem and you need to disable the onboard (but of course they called
it
built-in) modem. They used a graphic and you drag the action to the
device.
Like drag the word "disable" to the modem.
I had all the classics like the moving encrypted files, move the print
spool
to another drive for better performance.
They had some crazy laptop questions on there also like scsi devices
with
the docking station on your laptop.
And as you know there will some senseless questions on there also.

Exam Prep are author-written questions whereas Transcenders are people
sitting the exams, remembering the questions and publishing them.
No they aren't. Otherwise they'd be shut down like Cheet Sheets were.
They
do have similar a similar format which is usefull to become comfortable
with
the actual exams but the actual content is very different.
Personally I find the Trancenders about 50% more difficult than the
real
exams. I rarely pass them but usually ace the M$ exams.
