Hello Group;
I passed 70-210 with a score of 660, which is about the same I had done on
the transcender exams. I used brainbuzz cramsession to read on the train to
the exam which was very helpful as the first question dealt with setup
switches. I have been using win2k pro for the past month and self-studying
on a home LAN. Overall the exam was not that bad. Next month it is 70-215
Ciao

I have a PC which dual boots Win98 and Win2k server. I want to wipe off
win98 and reinstall it.  Is this possible without having format the whole
disk including my Win2k partitions.  I suspect this may be a stupid question
so please forgive my ignorance.  T.V.M

You will need NTFSDOS utility. It allows you to read NTFS partitions. And if
you buy it, it then also allows you to write to NTFS partitions.

I will try that....another wierd thing is that the recovery console won't
load if the disk is plugged in...but will load perfectly if it's not....how
could I create a boot disk that would read a NTFS partition?

see if you can access the drive via a good ol' boot disk, if you can't then
either the drive is fux0red or your configuration isn't entirely happy - to
rule out IDE-related issues you could use a separate IDE controller if you
have one handy (they are very cheap - PCI card) - also you could try
attaching the IDE lead once win2k has loaded - leave the problem hard drive
attached to the power, but plug the IDE cable in after and get it to re-scan
disks (depending on your mobo this may work)
... IDE doesn't really support hot-swapping, however, it is tolerant to
media errors and *may* therefore usually allow this (if you have
disconnected your hard drive accidentally whilst in win2k and managed to
successfully re-seat it without the OS crashing, you will know what I mean;)

What would the difference be between putting it as a slave on the primary or
secondary ide controller? windows shouldn't even be reading the drive until
i mount it in drive manager...

Have yoiu ruled out completely that the hard drive that you are installing

Try installing the drive as a slave on the secondary eide

Anyone have a problem adding a hard drive to windows 2000? I have one
harddrive as a master drive, on the first IDE connection, with 2 partitions.
a system (boot) partition and a regular program files partition. I tried to
put another drive in (configured as a slave drive on the first IDE
connection which i know has a corrupt boot sector or partition table.)
Win2000 starts to load, but after the splash screen with the blue indicator
bar, it stops about 3/4 of the way done, and the hard drive light stays on
and won't go off. The server will not boot, even after a full day of it
sitting there. If i take the drive back out, it works fine. Any help would
be appreciated, as I need to access the files on this old drive!
(formatted with NTFS)

No, you won't get anything extra for one exam.  Some people use the title
MCP - Windows 2000 or XP, but it's not a legitimate title.  Hell, I haven't
received anything for completing the MCSE track.  My transcript says nothing
either about Windows 2000 MCSE.  I was supposed to receive the "Early
Achiever" card, and haven't gotten that either.  Oh well...
"john" wrote in message

I currently have an MCSE in NT and working toward 2000 certification.
I just passed 2000 Server. Does this mean I will be getting a Windows
2000 MCP cert in the mail? My transcript shows me passing the server
2k exam, but no new titles. Will there be an MCSE 2000 physical cert
to receive in hand?  I know Microsoft is wanting to differentiate
between NT and 2000 now, but what will the difference be when I get
MCSE 2K?
Thanks

Guys, I need help.
I have done the four core: 70-210, 215, 216, 217
and the three design courses: 70-219, 220, 221
Does that make me an mcse?
My MCP secured site has recorded all my certifications,
but under the certification status, they still have the mcp status?
What gives?
I was gunning for early achiever. I did my last exam on Oct. 31st.
I am now confused. 1
