there are 6 default NTFS permissions.
what is the order of these permission when we consider the effective
permission.
eg. if a user is GroupA and GroupB.
GroupA is read permission.
GroupB is modify permission.
what is his/her effective permission of the folder?
is it modify override read? how about other permission? Thx

awww...thanks Mark. This, just by the way, is a practice network. I
have
every intention of messing it up over and over and over again. Thats
the way
that I get to know a product inside out...by knowing what it can and
can not
do.
My real work network still has Windows NT4.0 servers, and now 65 clients.
The Compaq client computers we purchase (iPAQ's....lovely) genereally
come
with Windows2000 ready to be installed, so hey, might be an idea to
upgrade
to 2000 Servers at a later stage.
Thanks for the answer. I'll put it to work later tonight !

I'd suggest you buy a book before you start exploring Group Policy.
It's
one of the biggest features of W2K, but it's also the biggest pain
to
coordinate and manage properly. You can truly mess up a network
with
Group Policies.
Having said that, go into Active Directory Users and Computers, right
click
on the domain name and choose Properties. You will see a Group
Policy tab,
click it. The Default Domain Policy (which is applied to every
user and
computer in the domain) is highlighted. Click on Edit.
Disclaimer: If you royally mess up your network, do not ask me
for help
(see paragraph one).

Hey Danny,
Just got back from taking 222. Not easy not hard, just the usual
questions
that didn't give enough information.
I used the MS Press book, the Domain Migration Cookbook from the MS
site
(excellent source), and attended a couple of free migration seminars.
Also
had two PC's to practice on, that is a must!
I passed with a 777, not my best effort but I'm sick of taking tests
and
this was my last one to complete the upgrade. Hope this is it
for awhile,
I'd like to play tennis again.
Good Luck

660 over 60 questions
I found 210 harder and less straight forward.
Tip: I stopped every 10 questions and looked out the window for a couple
of
minutes
Beware of cross-polination between the syllabi (or is it syllabuses)
I saw some gpo/ou/ad and some subnetting (but you'd sorta expect that
though)
If you have been getting a 600 or better on the transcenders (without
learning the transcender answers) you're most likely ready to rock

Is it true that rather than using the voucher for the free 70-240 sitting,
that you may sit for free in the four core exams separately?
I'm really
struggling with some of the Active Directory theory due to very limited
exposure due to the small size of my home network and the fact that
we're
still an NT 4 domain at work. I'd much rather spend more time
with AD
before I sit for the exam, but I'd like to get back into test mode
by
taking Pro and Admin now, as I haven't taken an exam since 1998.
Of course, I'd really like to save the 400 bucks byusing the voucher.
Thanks for any info!

No. Do not be so concerned, if you want to be concerned, then you should
be more inclined to panic in case the pass mark is lowered than in
case
it is raised. Exams can change overnight, type, question database,
pass
mark, in which case having too fixed am expectation to the exam can
be a
disadvantage.
I have tried assuming I was in for a 35 question adaptive exam in
"Enterprise" and get 58 questions non-adaptive instead, that was the
version of that exam that brought to get a rating as "most difficult"
on
Leuthards site, and yes: the exam had been changed overnight.
Things got even worse because the longer exam meant that the time table
also failed, so that not having brought provisions because of an
expected short duration exam became a major disadvantage.
Having tried an exam that appeared unexpectedly easy and one that
appeared unexpectedly difficult, I think I will recommend the first
experience. Being well prepared increases the chance of getting it.
Being well prepared makes you *make it*, even if they did move the
goalposts overnight.
Thanks

is
plenty if you spend the time doing the studying work.

I'm studying for the MCSE now, currently in a 2153 class. What I'm
having
trouble with is understanding what a DNS zone is, in English. The books
and
the WK2000 help file exlanations are not helping.
Is the zone a collection of domain names and their respective ip addresses
stored on a server?
Or is the zone the area where the files of a domain, such as the html
files,
are keeped on a server?
Any help would be appreciated!
