Well, I have had two attempts at this now. Without practices exams. The
pass mark is high, 755 and you get 135 minutes to answer 45 questions.
I got 644 and 711. Next and final go in two weeks. If anyone has any
practice exams, please let me know
Thanks

Only one book can help:
Windows 2000 Cluster Server Guidebook / David Libertone

into one exam. It will be hard for people have never used the Security
Advisor, or other Resouce Kit tools. Plus you must know why L0pht Crack
works with NT and how you can stop it.
Huhhhh !
Security Advisor is something very different from the Security Configuration

For that matter, I do not recall any ResKit tools being on the exam.

I did not pass this one the first time through, but did the second.
Here are some things to note that worked for me the second time:
1) Use the restroom before you sit the test, it is very, very long!
2) Don't start the test the minute you sit down.  Write out all of the
important notes that you will need before starting the exam.  Make sure you
write down the appropriate syntax order and also which options are
appropriate with particular syntax clauses.
3) Take maximum advantage of the test setup.... When you begin the test work
your way through all of the questions.  Only answer the short multiple
choice questions with short answers the first time thorugh.  Do not even
read the long questions with long answers - simply mark these!
4) Once you have answered the short Q's and marked the long ones go back to
the beginning and start working through the long Q's.
5) On the long Q's I worked the Q's backward.  First I drew a diagram of the
data structure.  Then I cruised down the to see how many possible answers
there were for that question.  Next I wrote them down (A,B,C,D,E etc....)
After that I skimmed the answers and crossed off the answers that were
definitely incorrect due to syntax problems (usually there were one or two
that were incredibly obviously wrong due to missing clauses in the sytnax -
or the clauses were ordered incorrectly).  Once I had it narrowed down, I
then read each of the possible correct answers and worked through them to
see which was indeed the correct solution.....

Hello Group,
I'll be taking this beast of a test in a week or two. I've just got two
questions.
1. Are there any good books/material I've missed and should read before
taking the test? So far I've read/used:
Wrox Professional SQL Server 7.0 Programming - Rob Vieira
MS Press MCSE Readiness Review 70-029
Numerous BrainDump sites
Transcender Flash & SQL Design Cert Transcenders
MS Press "Inside SQL Server 7" - Soukup & Delaney
Any other "don't miss out on"-type materials?
2. Anyone have any advice to someone taking this test in regards to what to
be ready for? I have about 1 1/2 - 2 years experience w/ SQL Server and
developing database applications. Are there alot of questions about cursors
or locking or event categories or DBCC SHOWCONTIG? that's the kind of stuff
I'm looking for.
Thanks to anyone with any advice/help,
Jason

As far as I know all exams cost the same, $100 pass or fail.
I found that when i was taking my exams the first one was the most
difficult.  It was partially because of preparation, but mostly because of
difficulty.  These exams are difficult, otherwise just about anyone could
certify and the certification would be meaningless.  Before taking a test
make sure that you know the material inside and out, and most of all try to
obtain some experience with the material inwhich you are about to test.
Most important prepare, prepare, prepare!  As I said Microsoft made the
tests difficult so that not just anybody could pass the tests.  They wanted
to make sure that if they permited a person to call themself a Microsoft
Certified Profesional that the person really does know the information.  I
hope I have not discourage you.  It is difficult, but it can be done, you
just need to really apply yourself.
If you need guidance in what the process is check out the following link:

any info I could get on this subject.
In addition, it appears that many ppl bomb the first time on an exam.
Is it because the tests are that difficult or is it simply because
there alot of the ppl that take the exams don't bother to prepare.

If it is at a CTEC then they are violating their agreement with MS,
while, if it is an AATP they you need to have passed the relevant

Either way, you are risking your own professional relationship

When you schedule a beta you should ask first how long it is, and
then find the timeslot to book.  For 244 they say 4 hours, so figure
that some of that time is for the survey and comments.
The W2k betas went, if I remember correctly, as high as 5 hours.
It is good to make separate notes on questions about which you want
to provide feedback - I just use a separate sheet where I write the
question number and only enough to jog my memory of what I wanted
to say.
You do not get to use any leftover time from finishig the exam early
to have a longer comment period, which is too bad.  So, pace your
comments knowing that you have a fixed time to make them, and
make the most significant ones first.
Good luck
