In my opinion the only reason transcender have got a good rep, is because of
the paper MCSE's...
Transcenders won't be any good until mid next year... when they have
experience
if you're having doubts look at the microsoft forums on

1)    As an "MCSE," you should KNOW where to get the requisite information
about Windows 2000 exams.  It is VERY evident that you WANT the Win2K MCSE
certification HANDED to you on a "Ag" platter...Too bad, not gonna happen.
2)    Since you are an "MCSE," you SHOULD be intelligent enough to KNOW both
HOW and WHERE to search for a job.  If you DO NOT, then perhaps you should
save yourself the pain and agony and look to a different career...
This is another PRIME example of someone WHO SHOULD NOT be working in

Transcender is pretty good but the problem is the guys at MS ensure that
only a few of the questions that you get tested on Transcender 70-068 ever
get asked in their actual exams. I know because I used to ace 90% plus the
Transcenders exams but when I sat the 70-68 Exam today -  I failed with 733.
Only about 4-5 questions came in the actual exam..
Petri is good - it contains alot of the actual Transcenders sim. questions
and some Petri's own quetions. Some which are asked and some not asked
during the actual MS exams.

The files are lost.
If you did not back up either the EFS key of the accounbt used, or
the EFS key of the recovery agent so that these can be imported into
the new system, then there is no way to get the files cleartext.
Let this be a warning to all.  Do not use EFS for anything important
until you have read about the essentials of EFS.

I have been playing with Win 2000 professional as I study for my MCSE,
when recently I had this problem I hope someone can help me with.
I had encrypted some files in a directory. Recently my 2000 installation
died, and I had to completely reinstall as for some reason, even my backup
wouldn't load. (thats a question for another time). I can not decrypt
these files. I am set up with administrator privilages, have a certificate set
up with file recovery, and installed the certificate. If I understand this, I
should be able to decrypt the file. However, in thinking about it, if it was
this easy, what would stop someone from just backing up the files and taking
them to their own computer where they have these privilages and decrypting
them there. But I figure there must be a way to do this.
Are these files lost to me, or am I doing something wrong.
Thanks
Ron

You might want to check the local community colleges.
Some have surprisingly high quality standards and decent equipment.
These also have the advantages of lower cost and longer timeframe,
the last being quite important, and, some that are MS partners use
the same official courses and sometime augment it.

NOT MCSE tests training. I could care less about getting the MCSE, but
it seems that all the classes that are available out there seem to focus
only on training you to take MCSE tests.
I am looking for someplace that has training for NT or SQL, training
designed to give you practical knowledge of the products that you can use.
Any ideas?

The Way I see it, we are pretty much in the same boat! The 4 NT Core
passed and looking for electives that will work for NT4 and W2K. Alot
of people I talk to are looking for the MCSE +I or +DBA, I say it is
not worth it with the older Exams retiring. I am looking for the 2000
cert path!
I am looking at either of the following:
1- Admin. SQL 7.0 (70-028)
2- SMS 2.0 (70-086)
3- Exchange 5.5 (70-081)
4- Migrating NT-->2000  (70-222)
All these exams can be used for NT and 2000 as far as MS website
stated! I am pretty sure I will take 70-222 early January, that is
something my company will be doing soon. It is a toss up between the
other three, SMS or SQL we use now and Exchange 5.5 is currently used
but will be replaced soon by 2000 so that may be out. As you can tell I
am not sure what i want to do, I am going to the book store right now.
Hope this helps!

A good preparation for me was to first do 2 of the core exams (networking
and DS) Luckilly, this was part of the Masterclass I was in.
Don't underestimate the Server and Professional sections though. The
knowledge tested is similar to NT, but the questions are still a lot harder
(you have to combine you knowledge more than before, eg: subnetting and WINS
or DNS)
Good Luck,
