Subject: Re: Exchange 5.5 MCSE Exam
Just curious why you are not taking the Win2000 Certification track?  You
will have to take a minumum of four tests to complete your Win2000
certification even if you get your NT 4.0 certification.  This all has to be
completed within one year.  I would think getting your Win2000 certification
now eliminates at worst taking only 7 exams as opposed to possibly taking 14
if you don't pass 70-240 Accelerated Exam.

No the exchange 5.5 exam is not retiring 12/31/00 but the 5.0 will be
retired at that date.  As for the NT 4.0 exams, yes they are all being
retired  12/31/00.  As for the the Networking Essentials I was understanding
that they are also retiring that at the same time ie 12/31/00.  So
unfortunatley you have alot of studying ahead of you.
Good luck
Kay.

I have a quick question regarding the MCSE Exchange Server 5.5 exam.  Is it
being retired after 12/31/00??  Or will I be able to take the exam after this
date?
I'm currently working on my MCSE cert. for NT 4.0 (not 2000).  If anyone knows
the status on the NT4.0 in the Enterprise (exam 70-068) exam and/or the
Networking Essentials (exam 70-058) exam that would also be greatly
appreciated!!  These three exams (Exchange 5.5, Enterprise, and Net Essentials)
are the last three I need for certification, but I'd like to know which order I
should study, in case any or all are going to be retired after New Years.
TechNet also writes that there is a list of exams to be retired, but offers
no link to the list!! Very frustrating!!  Any help/link is greatly appreciated!
Thanks a bunch and good luck to all aspiring MCP/MCSE/MCSD's...
Matt.
the official link to the list of "to be retired" exams would I think help most!!

Well after 1.5 years of studying, testing, and overall sweat sessions, I
finally achieved MCSE today. But after finishing Workstation today, I don't
have that feeling of euphoria that I thought I'd get after getting MCSE.
Even so, I feel I accomplished a lot after all the hours studying,
practicing, and testing I've gone thru to get it. I know I'll be putting in
more hours studying W2K and Cisco but I know it will benefit my education,
marketability, and performance on-the-job.

I am writing an article about Windows 2000 certification for Earthweb, an

certification is pretty stringent. I was wondering what people think/your

Hi, I am wondering if anyone have used the study notes and practice exam

know what you think of it.

I just read an article in pcworld.com which says "Whistler, which is
intended to merge with and replace Windows 2000 and Windows Me, won't ship
for at least another year (see "Microsoft's Future Is All .Net"). "
My question is, is it really worth taking the MCSE track now, because even
though win2000 is fairly new, in another year, we'll have to go through it
all again?
That's the nature of technology I suppose...

I am taking my first Microsoft test EVER, the 70-210 Win2k Pro at 2pm.
I have been taken the Win2K MCSE course (Just finished the 2154 MOC).
I have been studying from the MOC, the New Riders 70-210 book, Troy Tec, and
Transcender.
I have Passed the Transcender 70-210 test (Yippy!).
I plan on going to the book store today (Using it as a library) and
"skimming" the Exam Crams.
There is SOO much hype about how hard the CERT tests are, can one EVER be
ready for a test?
Is the Transcender harder than the MS Cert test?
Wish me luck!!

I passed server yesterday with a 933.  35 questions over 75 minutes. ( I
only took 35 minutes).
Definitely harder than workstation (got 966 on that one). Server in the
enterprise next.

Subject: 70-240: Passed it today
That was the hardest exam I ever did (MS and Novell). 4 hours, 97 questions.
It consists of 4 mini-exams (210, 215, 216, 217) and the focus is on
upgrades from NT4 to W2k and on the new features of W2k.
As it is a free exam (no joke: M$ is giving something for free) I would
recommend every MCSE4 to do it.
How I prepared for this for this exam: 7 day upgrade course with M$ course
materials, Transcender Tests and braindumps.
Practice: I already had a lot of TCP/IP experience and this helped a lot.
40% of the questions were about routing/NAT/subnetting/DNS/WINS.
A good resource which was a big support is
www.mcsebraindumps.com
Thanks to all in this group who helped me. I'm trying the 70-219 tomorrow,
wish me luck.

Gabe,
The INTRANET is a corporate network that functions with internet
technologies, such as browsers and search engins, using Internet protocols.
An EXTRANET is a secured network that allows business partners to access
portions of each other's intranets.
Hope this helps.

Why is this relevant.
My NT 4 instructor called the number for MCT's
and they couldnt tell him whether
the certs for 2000 would apply to whistler!
In other words Microsoft may be gearing up to tell
us that we have to get certified separately for whistler.
The question I would have is at this point why bother with
a Windows 2000 cert? It would seem to make sense to just get a NT 4
cert, and leapfrog to whistler 9 months from now.

Subject: I'm finally an MCSE
I finally made it. It's a shame I didn't know about this news group before I
started - I've found it really helpful and encouraging.
Today was IIS4 which I passed with 854. Thank you to Phyberlink for
initiating some really interesting discussions.
Thank you too, to Carola Helfert, for suggesting those downloads - the MMC
simulator was fantastic and a great help.
I wish you all luck in the future.
What's next? Maybe Win2k, but definitely Cisco in the future. Do let me know
if you think I should explore a different route. 1
