REDMOND, Washington (AP) -- 마이크로소프트의 회장인 빌게이츠는 그가
공동설립자인 마이크로소프트의 직책에서 자선사업에 집중하기 위해 빌
앤
멜린다 게이츠 재단으로 조금씩 옮길것이라고 목요일 발표했다 게이츠는
그의 직책을 넘긴뒤 회사의 회장으로써 2년의 기간이 넘게 계속할것이다
어린시절 친구 폴안랜과 세계에서 가장 큰 소프트웨어 회사를 설립한 게이츠
는 "이것은 나에게 어려운 결정이였다" 그리고 "나는 아주 중요하고 아주
도전
적인 내가 느낀 두가지 열정을 가진것이 행운이였고 이 도전을 준비함으로써
나는 마이크로소프트의 앞길이 지금같이 빛이난다고 굳게 믿는다"라고
말했다 마이크로소프트의 기술사무장인 레이옷지는 즉시 게이츠의 치프
소프트웨어 아키텍트(chief software architect)로써 지위를 떠맡을 것이다
그리고 모든 소프트웨어 기술 디자인을 검사하는데 게이츠와 나란히 일하기
시작한다 기술사무장인 크레이그 먼지는 즉시 연구 및 전략사무장의 지위를
맡을것이고 이 분야에서 게이츠와 함께 일할것이다 먼디는 역시 마이크로
소프트의 지적재산과 기술정책노력을 안내하기위해 총괄변호사 브레드
스미스와 협력할것이다 이 뉴스는 주식시장이 마감한후 발표되었다

Gates to leave day-to-day Microsoft operations

REDMOND, Washington (AP) -- Microsoft Corp. Chairman Bill Gates
announced Thursday that he will transition from day-to-day responsibilities
at the company he co-founded to concentrate on the charitable work
of
the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Gates will continue on as the company's chairman after transferring
his duties
over a two-year period.
"This was a hard decision for me," said Gates, who founded the world's
largest
software company with childhood friend Paul Allen. "I'm very lucky
to have two
passions that I feel are so important and so challenging. As I prepare
for this
change, I firmly believe the road ahead for Microsoft is as bright
as ever."
Microsoft's Chief Technical Officer Ray Ozzie will immediately assume
Gate's
title as chief software architect and begin working alongside Gates
on
overseeing all software technical design.
Chief Technical Officer Craig Mundie will immediately take the title
of chief
research and strategy officer and will work with Gates in those areas.
Mundie
also will partner with general counsel Brad Smith to guide Microsoft's
intellectual
property and technology policy efforts.
The news was announced after financial markets closed. Earlier, shares
in
Microsoft rose 19 cents, or 0.87 percent, to close Thursday at $22.07
on the
Nasdaq Stock Market. Shares gained 5 cents in after-hours trading.
