ORANGE KIMBALL YEAPLES AND MARY EATON YEAPLES AND THEIR DESCENDENTS

This is to the best of my ability, with the help of family records, internet records and family members.

Orange Kimball Yeaples was born 2 Mar 1883 in Limestone, Cattaraugus, New York, son of Ira Yeaples and Cynthia Lovina Spafford Yeaples. Very little is known of his early life. He had one sister who lived past childhood. Her name was Birdie Rosella Yeaples, born 26 Jun 1880 in Limestone, Cattaraugus, New York. She died on 8 Jun 1908, unmarried. She is buried at Steamburg, Cattaraugus, New York.

Orange Yeaples married Mary Eaton on 30 Sept 1904 at Red House, New York. Mary was born at Great Valley, Cattaraugus, New York on 1 May 1889, daughter of Edward Eaton and Lucy Nottingham Eaton. She had one brother, Fred L. Eaton.

There were eight children born of the union of Orange and Mary.

1. Edward Ira Yeaples 21 Nov 1905 Norwich, McKean, PA

Over the years I have heard many stories told about different members of the family. Unfortunately, I cannot remember most of them. It is my intention to try to get several family members to help me out with this, from what they remember or what they have heard about.

My parents, Donald and Bernice Blackmon Yeaples were separated when I was just under eight years old. My Mom used to take us to visit Grandma and Grandpa Yeaples after that. My main memory of Grandpa was that I always ran to sit on his lap and he would "whisker" my face with his and always ask me how his "little hermit" was doing. One of my greatest regrets is that, as a child, I guess I expected that they would always be there and I didn't realize just how important it would have been to keep some kind of a record of all that I saw and heard back then.

I don't remember a lot about Grandma, but it seems that she was always working at something - cleaning, cooking, etc. The main thing I remember is her laugh. It was like a sound of total delight.

There were times that we would visit when some of our other cousins were there also. Then we would play in the woods and run around having a great time. Unfortunately, it seems that after my parents divorce, we were just not as close with the rest of the family any more and only had occasional visits. Even now, I find myself often wishing that I could have known my grandparents so much better. Over the years, I used to go up Moody Hollow and just sit in front of the old house and think about them and the rest of the family.

My Uncle Ed Yeaples married Eva Christina Swanson on 16 Feb 1926. They had a son John Orange Yeaples, born . There was also a daughter, Martha Christina Yeaples who died when she was three weeks old.

Cynthia Lovina Yeaples was born 24 Mar 1907 at Redhouse, Cattaraugus, New York. On 11 Feb 1924 she married Hugh Frank Laughlin.
