TREE
PLANTING IN THE ISLAND GARDEN CITY OF SAMAL
June 21, 2003 (Saturday)
Panabo Council was invited by DDNSD-Youth Development Federation
for a joint tree-planting activity held at Barangay Bandera, Kaputian
District, Island Garden City of Samal. About 70 participants from
the 2 organizations went through the project site.
The group rented
3 jeepneys ride from Panabo to Sasa Wharf, and ride a passenger
ferrry boat crossing the sea to Samal for 15 minutes. We are fetched
by a dumptruck in Babak pier giving us a bumpy 1 hour & 30
minutes ride to the planting site. Tired and heated by the sun,
but its nothing when compared to the overlooking view of the entire
City of Davao. Matched with roasted pork & chicken.
We have planted 50
seedlings of "Bagras" tree from the Department of Environment
& Natural Resources (DENR).
Its a long and rocky
trip but a rewarding activity.
